The only useful thing in the kit is the ring sizer.

I've sized hundreds of spoons rings by hammering them down on this mandrel. The other one with the size markings is not used for hammering but it will give a reasonably accurate ring size. The included hammer is not great for the power needed to size spoon rings. I use a plastic mallet from harbor freight.

Very simple set up. A learning experience for me, I ruined the hammer not understanding what it was designed for, the ring mandrel is soft so using a metal hammer on it is not recommended, the finger sizer works great as does the measuring tool these tools I use every day. I hope to get back to working with hard metals again, I purchased a hammer that is specifically designed for that it should have no effect on the working mandrel.My hopes for this was to make the metal rings for my miniature wagon wheels. So unfortunately I ruined the hammer making the rings from coins, had I made them out of a softer metal I’m sure the hammer would have done just fine.

The mandrel and ring sizer worked wonders for my first attempt at making coin rings. For starters, this is a good set to purchase. The only drawback is the cheap hammer they ship with the set. As others have stated, I would either discard it or use it for lighter work than metal shaping. I purchased a cheap nylon hammer from Harbor Freight and it seems to be a good substitute for the one included in this kit.
