I bought this for my Marineland Portrait 5-gallon aquarium, and it fits in the back where the pump and filter media are located so it isn't in the front of the tank where the fish are. It keeps the temperature exactly what it is set to. It's fairly easy to adjust 1 degree at a time upwards. If you need a lower temperature than what is displayed, you have to keep pressing the adjust button until it goes to the maximum then rolls around to the minimum and starts going up again from there. Would be nicer if it had a down degree button instead. But since you just set it and then leave it, it's not a big deal really.

I’ve purchased 2 of these, and the longest I got out of one was a year. The first stopped heating effectively (set at 78, thermometer back up never went over 65 after a few months). Second one is heating ok, but has started to make an extremely loud whining sound - 35 years of tanks, up to 22 at once, and have never experienced a loud heater! Will not be purchasing a 3rd, sadly as the size is perfect.

Un peu dispendieux mais très précis et sécuritaire pour les alevins.

I've been a Hygger user for some time, lights, heaters and pumps. I got a new 5 gal for Betta and this heater. The first one sent was DOA, everything worked BUT it did not heat the water. Returned it and another was sent out. Within a week, the replacement stopped working as well. Contacted seller and was told that the replacement was sent and I would need to buy from another vendor. Contacted Hygger and was basically told the same. The main questions i had was "have there been a number of returns on this model" and "Why would it stop working", neither question was answered. I took the second one apart and the construction is 'non-repairable'. Its all sealed in a waterproof substance, so its basically like a bic lighter, just toss it when it breaks.

El Termómetro y el calentador son muy precisos pero hace un ruido chirriante horrible cuando calienta el agua, si lo tienes en una habitación no dejará dormir

I had purchased the more expensive brands that didn’t have accurate temperature sensors and this seems to be the only brand that is true to it’s name. AQQA failed all categories of heating and temperature control. On multiple levels I have tested my brand new AQQA heater and it was wildly inconsistent with current temps. This test was done on a uninhabited tank due to the loss of my tropical plants and fish. I have 4 tanks and the reading on this tank was my final test of 3. The other two tanks were smaller but I had to test against inadequate results side by side. Hygger was the only product that had clear and consistent results with true success across all platforms of suction, heating, and accuracy of temperature.

Put this in my fish tank and it worked great. Turned it up a couple degrees at a time (quite slowly so as to not cook my fish). So far it has kept the tank at a constant temp. The heater was easy to use, easy to install. Sticks great. Only thing thats a pain is that you cant click down a temp. You can only click up until it reaches the highest temp then restarts at the lowest temp. So you have to cycle through it like you would an oven clock. It doesnt actually raise the temp that fast so you dont have to worry about that cooking ur fish. Just keep clicking until it reaches your desired temp. I have one of the sticker thermometers on the side of the tank, it read roughly the same temp that the heater showed it set at (once given time to settle).Update: its been ~9 months and the heaters temp display is off. Its randomly jumping from 73 to 84 deg.... I keep thinking it has cooked my fish but when I feel the water temp it is only 73 (also according to the sticker thermometer on the side its still 73/74). This is the 3rd time it has done it in the last 2 weeks.... I can reset it by unplugging it for 30sec and plugging it back in but sadly Im probably going to have to search for a new one :(

UPDATED REVIEW 03/18/20: I re-ordered another and it works PERFECTLY FINE. No matter what the room temperature is, this heater keeps my aquarium at a cozy 80°F/26°C. The only reason why I removed a star is because the vents are not fry/shrimplet safe. Other than that, this is the BEST heater for my nano tanks.ORIGINAL REVIEW:First off, let me just say that I have not had ANY problems with other Hygger items; if anything Hygger is the brand I prefer more than others given that they are well thought out, reliable and budget-friendly.What happened was that the temperature remains stable as long as it was under 77 degrees. I placed this in an 8-gallon tank and used 2 different thermometers along to test the digital display in this tank. Well, when I put the temp at 80 degrees, the temp would rise to a worrisome 90 degrees and kept climbing. I had tried to find the sweet spot (as it sometimes is with adjustable heaters) to get the right temp but nothing worked. I was unhappy with having to return it, I will continue to get Hyggar products but, I am guessing that I may have just received one of those products that were damaged during shipping or a QA person was texting their buddies and passed this one through, either way, it didn' meet the standard I am used to with Hyggar products.I'll try getting another and see how it goes. Stay tuned....

50w works great in my 5g. Does a great job keeping the tank right at the set temperature, with minimal variation. Being so easy to adjust (with the button on the cord) makes it extremely easy to raise or lower the temperature precisely and at whatever speed you want. Being able to creep the temp up over the course of a few hours is exceptionally useful for acclimating new fish, and is a very nice feature in a heater of this price. It's a little bulky: not as long as the standard heater, but wider and about as deep. Makes it easier to fit into smaller tanks, and the black housing blends into a black background reasonably well. The only issue I've had is the suction cups not keeping it well-secured. If the cord is running in a more or less straight line to the outlet it's fine, but if the cord twists at all it also twists the heater and pops off the suction cups. But with how nice the temperature adjustment is, I don't think that's enough to knock off a star for me.
