I use this to add layout lines on aluminum and steel for milling and drilling. Very accurate and fairly easy to use. Good product, I recommend.

I do not like it very much. Strange to use and not easy made lines

The unit, a digital marking gauge, arrived with two CR2032 batteries (as advertised), but one was d.o.a (trivial perhaps, yet a contributing factor in the ensuing confusion). I had only seen the battery tray installed in the unit briefly once, before beginning to fiddle with live and dead battery switch-outs. It had not yet occurred to me that there might be two ways to insert the tray (though one--the right one, as turns out--would have seemed upside down), nor did the instructions make any observations or give any visual aid of that assembly. Nothing I did would induce the unit to turn on, so I concluded it to be defective. And I called and told the supplier as much. That's when things got better. ROCKLER WOODWORKING AND HARDWARE offered to refund my purchase price, including S&H, and, when I asked what should I do with the unit itself, they told me I could keep it (albeit for a paperweight, but more significantly they had spared me the trouble of packing it off again). I'll make the rest of this account shorter, by saying I showed the alleged tool (now mine forever) to a friend with many years electronics savvy; John fiddled until fiddling had the battery tray "upside-down" and wah-la, the thing turns on like a champ! Now, I REALLY LIKE the unit: hefty, solid, accurate, useful (to me). So, after an internal moral debate, I called ROCKLER back today and gave them the good news-- "IT WORKS!" and said they could indeed charge me again. Jackie put me on hold for about 15 seconds, came back on and told me they appreciated honesty, and that I could keep the unit at no charge, with their thanks. How's that for rare good news in the business relations world? Thanks ROCKLER. I'll be shopping with you and AMAZON again. Soon.

I got the tool and played around with it. Love it. It got a high-end European gauge feel to it. With all the parts supplied, it's a good idea to read the instruction. It makes marking, measuring, and reading a easy thing. Also a common to the 1st reviewer: The length of main pin is adjustable with a clamping screw (on the right side of the beam); and there is a screw drive provide within the package. As long as you adjust the main pin to level with the "second pin", it will mark two perfect parallel lines. Please read product instruction before use.

It comes with a battery in the gauge, and that was dead. The included battery is fine, but the instructions don't mention how to replace it. I finally got the compartment open to install the battery. It is a like a little drawer, and the rubber gasket fits poorly. I had to play with the gasket and wiggle it around to get the battery to make contact. I will be sending it back because this drawer design feels like it will be causing problems in the near future.

I bought one of these at RocklerWhat's wrong:The second pin (add on for chisel width measure) is not level with the main marker pin. It's about 1/8 in lower. So it's impossible mark 2 parallel lines.
