The plastic guard is quite durable and I placed it on a medium thickness rug in front of the bathroom door that runs is in the hallway. The teeth on the bottom side of the plastic protector doesn't keep it in place. Over a few days It has what I call the creep. It has a tendency to move or shift a few inches. My cats love to claw the rug in front of the door. Every couple of days I have to reposition it. At least it has slowed down the varments from destroying the rug. So I'm giving it a 4.

It works! Unfortunately by the time I realized carpet protectors exist, my cats had already destroyed the carpet under my bedroom door, and I'm a renter :'( This has stopped the damage and my cats are less persistent about being let in while I'm sleeping since I put this under the door.

I wish I bought this sooner to prevent my cats from ripping the rug! It is great!

This is a basic non-slip sheet of carpet protector. It comes in a single roll. It's quite narrow and not very long, but it serves its purpose! I use mine to hold my cat litter mat in place, because my cat somehow always manages to pull it up, even though we keep her claws clipped.

I struggled with cutting the rubber to fit, but with some finagling I got them in place and love them. My cat can't chew or scratch through it and the doors can close easily over the mats.

This has thick spikes on the bottom. It can’t sit in a doorway that is half hard floor and other half carpet. On just a higher carpet, it would work fine.

One of my cats has a fair amount of separation anxiety. Due to cat allergies, they're not allowed in my bedroom though. He particularly does not like this and has developed the habit of taking out his frustration on the carpet immediately outside my bedroom door. Unfortunately it took me a while to discover the use of products like these, so some damage has already been done.It arrives rolled up, but you can relax it by (a) putting it under something flat and heavy, (b) running a hair dryer or heat gun on it [not too close] while straightening it against the floor, (c) laying it out flat outside on a sunny, warm-ish day, or (d) putting it in a bathtub of hot water [dry before placement].For this to be most effective, you're going to want to cut it to wrap around the molding and areas beside your door, not just the entryway. This involves a lot of trial and error. I did this bit with a box cutter knife and took away chunks until it wrapped around the doorway on both the inside and outside of the door. The hinge is particularly difficult. Installation probably took me about 1 1/2 hours. Then I placed an entrance rug on top of it on my cat's side of the door for good measure. He's gonna have to work really hard to get to the carpet now! This is the exact same type of mat as a desk chair medium-pile carpet protector (the type with the little pegs to hold it firmly in place), except this product is physically smaller in size.Having this carpet protector in place gives me a certain peace of mind, knowing that my cat won't be able to damage the floor around my bedroom door anymore. I can see this helping with inside dogs as well.
