Description says that there is a 5 year battery life, well I received mine on Nov. 3, 2022 and it is dead already. Less than 2 yearsIt wasn't installed for the full 2 years either.With a battery that cannot be placed, I now have a useless paper weight

Had this item for a year and a half and the battery is dead. No way of replacing the battery, while I tried to do it, ended up destroying the unit. As it wasn't any good without a battery, no issue. Had a little trouble trying to find the right configuration, but did manage to come close to what I thought would be close to correct. Not much good at night, as it didn't have a back light on it, which I knew from the beginning. Much better to get something that you can change the battery in.

Also resets if you ever remove power (like changing the battery) - take note accordingly if you use it.

This Tach/Hour meter was pretty easy to install and use on my riding mower. Just follow the instructions and be careful how you route the wires. Made it easy to know what I was doing while adjusting engine rpm after carburetor replacement.

What i liked was the length of all the wires. Made it easy for me to route away from heat. I snaked the wires under the engine cover. I mounted it with super heavy duty outdoor velcro. I tightly taped the white wire to a grounding stud on the engine. I wrapped the red wire five times around the lead adjacent to the spark plug. The instructions say do not wrap the wire around the anymore than five or six times or you may start picking up erroneous signals hence wrong hour reading. I wrapped most of the wires with 3M hi-temp electrical tape just in case and plus it adds one more layer of protection against nicks or cuts as I mow around the house.You can see the first time I ran the mower and the hour meter reading along with the wrapped wires. You cannot change the batteries which is too bad. I think it’s that way for most of these hour meters sold on Amazon, at least in this price range.
