Excellent way to sharpen skills. These are current technologies. There is plenty of instruction written in understandable format. The value with this is being able learn at your leisure and add another skill set to your abilities

I got this kit just for SMT soldering practice. It's got some very tiny parts which is what I wanted and it is good for that purpose. It's also a functional kit but there are way more parts on the board than needed for the kit to function and the instructions are pretty vague. Many of the parts' values differed from what were specified in those instructions, but I suspect it would still function acceptably. I'd give it two stars as a functional kit.

I've done these before and have a lot of experience hand soldering smd's. I use an electronic microscope to make it easier. I don't know what they call those resistors with 8 contacts but after I got all 5 soldered in place I did not have a connection all the way thru. After to much time and energy troubleshooting this I found that one of those resistors did not have metal on one of the "legs" (don't know what else to call them) and how can I return it if I've already soldered parts of it? Disappointed this time.

I got this to practice , before soldering a bigger project with small components . I have build electronic kits for long time , even built 25 inch color tv from Heath Kit. The newer components are a lot harder to do .
