Installed this hour meter on my new Husqvarna snowblower to keep track of usage for maintenance purposes, it will still count at low voltage while idling.

I BOUGHT THESE FOR MANY BOATS OVER THE YEARS THEY ALWAYS JUST WORK. EASY SIMPLE 2 WIRE INSTALL, POWER TO KEY ON AND GROUND, DONE. SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT ANYWHERE. NO NEED FOR DIGITAL AND ALL THOSE THIS ONE JUST COUNTS THE HOURS AND MINUTES WHEN YOU HAVE THE MOTOR ON. CANT BEAT THE PRICE.

This is my 3rd mechanical counter since 1986. The ranch I bought had an oil furnace. Back then oil was $0.96 a gallon. The top of the crawl space, 275 gal oil tank, cannot have a level gage installed. Additionally, it could not be read. So, I have been buying these mechanical hour counters to tell me when the tank needed refilling. The oil nozzle sprays one gallon per hour. When the counter advances 225 hours, it's time to call for delivery. My 1st counter lasted 16,000 hours and was replaced. The second lasted 5,000 hours and was replaced with this Jaron. It started loosing time at 000032 hours and I nursed it to 000226.I installed a 120V outlet on the furnace in 1986.. It go's ON when the flame is ON, and OFF again when the oil pump stops. To this outlet is connected an old fashioned electric alarm clock with a second hand.Although this clock only counts up to 12:00 hours, it is enough to check it against these mechanical timers if I do it daily. It is as accurate as the energy company that supplies the 60 Hertz AC power. When the oil delivery truck pumped in 248 gallons and left, I installed a digital, battery operated, gasengine run time / job time counter. It has a lead wire that wraps around a spark plug wire and senses pulses. I had already performed bench tests to see if the digital counter would work with a constant spark from a spare furnace ignition transformer. The counter is not fussy - it turns ON. Although the RPM feature reads 7028 it is of no concern on a furnace. (248 minus 226 equals 22 hours the Jayron counter lost since the heating season began) The digital counter reads in 1/100 hour increments. Mechanical timers have a habit of getting stuck between two numbers when it is time to read it. (Is it 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 or 8 1/2 ?)One cold winter, I ran out of fuel oil and had to go to the gas station to get 5 gallons of diesel fuel and pay the road tax on it. Thus the reason for accurate record keeping. On the PLUS side; The alarm clock and the digital clock are exactly in sync with each other. On the MINUS side; the instructions say the coin cell battery life is 168 hours. You would think it would work for a year or two like other small digital displays. "Time" will tell.

I first plugged it into 120v to run the hours up to 24.x to get near machine logged use. As soon as I connected it to the 240v compressor it fried and never recorded 1/10th of an hour. Retested on 120v and dead....

Had bought 4 and they didn’t even last a year, they are not even waterproof as one stopped working at 12 hour and had water inside, very cheap, not to be used for anything outdoors.

There is no instruction on the proper way to connect polarity to the spades. Will have to guess, and hope I don't burn it up in the process. The only mention of it is, "once wired correctly, unit will begin to count".Unit looks good, and once wired in will return to update.
