Was looking for a rack for my drz 400 sm and this is great as it allows me to carry some things. I secure my luggage on it with some straps very well built. Lightweight as well.

Amazing quality. Was so bummed to realize the mounting hardware under the rack is not supported by the 2001 drz400e model. I could have drilled holes through plastic fender, but the kit didn't come with any nuts. Plus, all the load-bearing for the luggage rack would be on the plastic fender which would not have been study at all. I dont know what other folks have under their plastic rear fender but my bike has air, so not good for mounting a rack. Rating this a 2 because the product description says it fits drz400 which I took to include the E model

The best addition to my bike, I don't know how I lived without it before. It is sleek and low profile when you're not carrying any cargo, and has options for various tie-down techniques due to the diamond pattern on the plate. Excellent build quality, installed in minutes. Looks great, especially with the gold color option to match my rims. I would 100% recommend this, and my boyfriend also got one for his DRZ once he saw mine.

I used this for a 2002 DRZ400 on a very rough off road tour in the North Cascades. Very strong and well made. Fit the frame of my bike well. Lots of lash down spots on it. Great product - especially for the money.

I love this rack. It is the modern version of strapping a small egg pallet to the rear of your motorcycle.The construction of the rack and supports are fine. I am not personally a fan of the fasteners used because the small sunk screws that stabilize the top (diamond shaped part) if the rack to the side stabilizers (the silver shiny long parts) do not have enough thread and can back out with the excessive vibrating of my DRZ.One of my screws fell out somewhere along 2000km of mixed media riding. An American president once said that after being fooled once, he can't be fooled again, so some action was required. A common man would solve this screw issue with threadlocker (or has already crossthreaded the screw), and the uncommon man would get a longer screw and a washer+lock nut because overkill costs 20c at the local hardware store.Next thing is that the bolts that are used to run through the top of the rack and through the stock toolbox holes are a bit short. I wanted to keep the oem toolkit (for a while) so I went to the hardware store and got some longer bolts and had both the rack AND the toolkit. As you can see from the images I have a hard case instead bolted right to the rack now.Overall, and the reason why this review is so long and anecdotal is because a good rack should inspire you to use it in many ways. This rack is certainly able to inspire you to bolt, strap, and tie all sorts of things to your motorcycle. I have strapped luggage, backpacks, bags of wood, and all sorts of things to this rack. It has held up very well. I prefer the open-concept diamond shape over more proprietary racks with specific mounting points especially on a back rack.

The two left side holes in the top rack were not drilled. Tried contacting the company like Amazon said and they did not reply. I was able to drill and counter sink them with no issues but other may not have the tools to do so.

One of my best Amazon purchases by far, fits my 2013 DR-Z400SM perfectly. Some instructions would have been nice but installation is a breeze once you figure out what goes where. For anyone having trouble with installation: the two longer spacers and bolts are for mounting the sides of the rack to the bike. The shorter bolts and spacers are for mounting the rack to the rear fender, you will need to keep the nuts from the original bolts to thread onto the new ones :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish and is quite strong. No instructions are included but it’s very easy to figure out assembly and the installation.If your looking for a back rack for your DRZ check this one out!
