I purchased this with the intent of using with Hauptwerk VPO as I know some who use this same exact, compact peddle board. It arrived with no instructions and I have been trying for three days now to get the Hauptwerk application to recognize the midi signal....NO SUCCESS. Is there some driver I need to download? Do I need to set channels on the output midi..who knows I connected four midi keyboards within minutes without difficulty. I cannot make this auto detect after multiple attempts.

This thing is the truth! I don’t know if the seller read the reviews about consistency or stiffness, but I don’t feel any stiffness and they play very well. They feel authentic and smooth and I could definitely use these at church!

I bought these five years ago and am in love with them. Initially I struggled getting the right tone, and ended up switching my cheap keyboard to a Yamaha clavinova which can be programmed with all kinds of different organ sounds. I did also eventually switch all my springs out with a pack of extension springs I found here on Amazon. We move a lot and this is a perfect lighter-weight option instead of a full size organ. I practice at home all week so I can play for church services. I do wish it had one or two more pedals, but the majority of pieces I play, it hasn’t been an issue and I was able to modify my footwork to compensate.Would recommend to my friends.

There were 2 screws missing in the pedals, but I didn't want to send it back. But its a great product

So when arrived it really had the wood smell (like it) was easy to set up with pc (Hauptwerk) VPO it even noticed my expression pedal. As in the description it was ordered for home use. So I didn’t mind that it is only 24 notes and way smaller the an AGO peddle board. It took some time to get use to it but I works great and I could not fit an AGO pedal board in my room. It is really great price and I am happy with it.

This in an excellent pedalboard for a smaller studio setting and budget which cannot accommodate a full-scale church organ with an AGO pedalboard. This is a flat, radiating pedalboard which is very much like the pedalboards found on a good number of historic instruments. Although it is essential to have practice time on the instrument on which performance is to be done, for home practice, this pedalboard is simply ideal. The experienced organist should not find it particularly difficult to transition to and from the smaller scale of this pedalboard. You do need a midi USB connection if you are going to use it with computer software such as Haputwerk. I heartily recommend this product!

I am happy with the JG3 24-Note MIDI Bass Pedal Foot Controller. It is the most inexpensive product of its kind out there and it works exactly as advertised. To be this inexpensive, though, it has some design trade-offs worth mentioning (most obviously, why 24 keys when most others go the full 2 octaves at 25?)First, you should know I bought this to use as a pedalboard for my home VPO (Virtual Pipe Organ) project, which also includes two MIDI keyboards and Hauptwerk software. I didn't want to pay a fortune for a full-out, 32-note AGO-spec MIDI pedalboard or build one myself (as some zealots have!), but still I wanted one as close to this standard as possible. The JG3 product looked right, was MIDI, and was priced correctly. I also liked its light weight, especially compared to managing a 100-pound full pedalboard! This one was easy to pick up off the porch and carry upstairs myself. Hooking it up was also easy. All I needed for my Hauptwerk project was a MIDI-to-USB cable, because the pedalboard has a 5-pin port and I need to go to USB on my iMac. (I bought an iConnectivity mio cable for about $30 - if you do too, be sure to hook the pedalboard up to the white MIDI "in" jack instead of the black "out.") It didn't take much to get the pedalboard to talk to the Hauptwerk software - I scrolled through the pedalboard's menu to select a channel, set the same on the Hauptwerk, and that was it.So for price, portability/storability, and ease of set-up, you can't beat this pedalboard. And to be fair, JG3 doesn't even call this a "pedalboard" but instead calls it a "bass pedal foot controller." It doesn't claim to be AGO standard either. So it's unfair of me to be too critical for its design trade-offs since I expected so much from it. That said, here's where it could have been an even greater product: (1) the AGO standard calls for 17.5 inches per octave, and this pedalboard is a little narrower at 16.25 inches; (2) AGO calls for radiation (which this one has) and concavity (which it does not - the pedals are evenly horizontal); (3) the pedals are just a little too short at 15 inches more or less - more than once I've tried to press a key with my heel and hit the baseboard instead. In summary, if you're a serious organist and expect this pedalboard to give you a true organ "feel," you will probably want to pay a whole bunch more and get something bigger (really bigger) and better. But if you're willing to trade authenticity for price and convenience, this is an excellent purchase. For myself, I know this isn't the ultimate instrument, but that's why I'll go to a church when I'm ready to get serious - at home, I think this will fit the bill quite nicely.
