Really a nice sword for the price paid. It was packed very well. I love the black blade which is very ninja like for a middle-age man to cosplay! I did notice that a bit of brown was present on the paper towel when I went to oil it with Rem Oil Pro3 which a thick oil. This will be one that will need to be oiled or greased often to prevent rust. I would recommend this sword for an under $100 introduction to Japanese sword reproductions (from China). This medium length size is great for indoor cosplay and fantasy.

I was actually surprised at how well it was for the price. I used a piece of paper and sliced through it with barely any ease to test the sharpness, and to my surprise it sliced through very easily. The design is already extremely nice, fits perfectly on my shelf at a length of 31 inches overall, and the all black build quality is pretty great. I know the product dimension says it’s 41 inches when you click on the measurements, but it’s 31 inches; it is not 31 inches for the blade only, 31 inches also includes the handle. However; when I measured it, I was getting between 29-30 inches. It’s not a noticeable difference, but if you’re considering the wakizashi instead of a katana due to the need of fitting it in a tight area, then there is some wiggle room; since it may be an inch or two off.The blade itself came with oil applied onto it, which then had wrapping seal over the blade and oil to prevent rust on the blade. I appreciate that, most companies usually don’t go out their way to oil their blades; at least with my experience, and especially when the price is this low.Afterwards, all you really have to do is clean the blade every month to avoid rust on the blade, but as of now, there is really no reason not to get this blade. If you’re looking for display only, it’s perfect. If you’re looking for a slicing test, it did pretty well when I tested it. I recommend this, and I’ll be buying again one day in the future.Rating: 10/10

I am collector of cool swords. I have Cloudhammer katanas, very expensive stuff, like over 1000 CAD each. This tanto was supposed to be a "beater" tanto. Read all the reviews and still didn't think much and just ordered one since it was so well priced. Now, for all blade aficionados out there, Jihpen beats almost all of my expensive swords in terms of quality of workmanship, focus on details, zero scratches, no imperfections, tight fittings, pristine blade, tight fitting into tsuka, no rattle, etc. Now, before the word goes out and prices increase, I will order a wakizashi and katana from this noble seller. If you want powerful cutter, or wall pride, Jihpen swords will make you smile, and make you look cool with your friends, partners, etc... I guarantee you, you will never regret for this purchase (says the guy who is so finicky on blades)...

This all black wakizashi was the last all black sword I needed to complete the set of 3. The katana and tanto came from Jihpen Swords as well. I’m very surprised and happy because the level of quality you get for the price. I have bought katana from Jihpen many times before, at varying levels of quality and price. The entry level blades I’ve bought are very nice and the high end blades I’ve bought are really beautifully done. All swords, including this one, have been put together very well. No rattling in the tsuba and no blade rattle inside the saya. For the price, you almost can’t afford to pass them up. They all came razor sharp with absolutely no visible damage or defects. They all feel really good in the hand and are really beautiful to look at. Even if you don’t want to buy these particular items, look at Jihpen’s page and all they have to offer. The best thing about this seller is his customer service and willingness to do whatever he has to do to ensure the customer is happy. That means a lot to me and will cause me to continue to buy from that type of seller. He will even customize to your liking if the item ships from their warehouse overseas. He is a top notch seller and an even better person. Anyone that will go out of their way to make their customer happy and content is not common. I’ve dealt with some that never return messages or are very rude after the purchase has completed. Not Jihpen! Jihpen is the first place I go when I’m able to buy a katana, wakizashi or tanto. I’ve collected Japanese edged weapons for over 20 years and I have accumulated 30+ katana, wakizashi and tanto over the years. With all the sellers I’ve dealt with over the years, online and in-person, Jihpen has been the easiest and most reliable seller I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with. Any concerns or questions you may have, he will take the time to answer. As I said, he’s my go-to, my first stop when I’m in the market for a new addition to my collection. I’m very particular about what I will spend my money on since I have so many. Jihpen has a huge selection. I promise you will find one you’ll like. Check Jihpen out. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for another awesome piece, Jihpen. I’m more than pleased with the new addition.

Not a fan of the fake Hamon, its synonymous with Mall store swords and indicative of cheap swords in general. Shipping was odd to say the least but it did finally come 5 days late. The sword was extremely loose and would fall put of the saya and needed to be shimmed as this creates a Very Dangerous situation with a blade this long. Has anyone actually tried to cut with this? The factory edge Needed work and the Cord Wrap on the handle started to loosen after maybe 30 min of practice. I was hoping that the Spring Steel was worth the purchase but if the rest of the sword falls apart, what good is it? I suppose it makes a good Wall Hanger if your into black blades and cheesy fake Hamon’s.
