About this item

  • 31% shorter throw than standard TRP HY/RD arm
  • CNC 6061-T6 aluminum
  • Black anodized finish
  • Includes new cable fixing bolt and washer and pivot pin set screw
  • Unlike 'hack' method for shortening cable pull, brake cable will not contact caliper body at full stroke

Pair of brake arms for converting TRP HY/RD calipers. Conversion arms shorten brake cable pull requirements for proper function using Campagnolo, SRAM, and older Shimano brake levers with a brake lever pivot to brake cable stop distance of ~24mm (vs. 36mm for Shimano SLR-EV levers).

I should have bought this from the get go. Works perfect with by sram apex 1x group set! I had a need to shorten the pull for front and back and this is as close to hydro feel as I've ever had! Don't hesitate to buy! Minimal packaging is excellent and each piece is individually packed!

My experience reflect what others have seen with regards to the TRP HY/RD and dropbar brake levers. In my case, I use the Shimano Ultegra ST-R8000-R/L.I followed the TRP instructions of engaging the lever arm lock knob, and pulling all the slack out of the brake cables. With the stock lever arms of the HY/RD, there is too much pull on the brake levers to the point where the brake levers would touch the dropbars.I installed these short pull lever arms and it helps a little bit, where now the brake levers would not touch the handlebars at full engagement. However, you cannot adjust the pull to be closer to the top of the lever throw. Also, the lever arm lock knob doesn't fully engage with the JJBP short pull arms, the threaded hole on the JJBP is off by a fraction of a millimeter.I think the lever throw issues on the TRP HY/RD is a consequence of the mechanical design of the brake and where the fulcrum of the lever is in relation to the piston actuator and the cable clamp. The Yokozuna Ultimo may or may not have the same issue I will likely try those next. After that, it is either go to pure cable-actuated disc brakes (Paul Klamper) or go full hydraulic brakes.

What I thought would be a long project was surprising super short. So easy to change out and when calibrating the brakes as usual I immediately noticed a major difference in brake lever throw and feel. Much easier to find that spot and not worry about having the brake levers bottom against the handle bars. I used to just live it and have my brakes set up good enough since I just joy ride on dirt roads. But with these new pieces the throw makes this feel like a whole new bike. Highly recommended!

I bought these short pull conversion arms as a replacement for my HY/RD calipers after stripping out the bolts on the original brake arms, I use Shimano Tiagra R4700 STI road levers, I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of the brake arms and feeling at the lever once setup, they give me excellent braking power as well as great modulation, super simple to install and everything works perfectly, I definitely would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a shorter pull at the lever or even just a new set of brakes arms for Shimano SLR-EV levers.

I'm using 10 sp Sram Red Levers with my TRP HY/RD brakes. Unfortunately I can squeeze the levers all the way to the handlebars.. After install the new brake arms it's better, but not as good as I wanted.Easy to install

These work well, adding a measure of comfort to the lever pull, as well as a little bit of leeway in terms of cable slack. With these installed on my Sora 3500 shifters, the brake feels essentially like it would on a longer-pull brake lever (like my other bike with the Hy/Rd).

Works exactly as advertised. The Hy/Rd brakes are a great concept and this makes them better in practice with older brake levers. Using SRAM Red 1st generation levers, the conversion arms give much stronger braking and improved modulation. Installation along with the YouTube instructions was easy. At the cost of a set of brake pads, this was a good investment.
