HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto – Most Beautiful Sounding
The HR* CUSTOM DARK series is JodyJazz’s premium line of hard rubber saxophone mouthpieces and are our most beautiful sounding and playing pieces. Alto sax players know there are often a lot of unpleasant highs in the sound, especially on the higher notes, but with the HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto, we have retained the fun of playing a great Alto mouthpiece while taking off all the unpleasant highs. A beautiful rollover baffle gives the mouthpiece the pop and feedback that Alto players are used to and the big large chamber and bore give it its characteristic mellow, warm, pretty sound. Made from our proprietary Chedeville Rubber (CHR), a softer, purer formula than standard hard rubber, which imparts an incredibly rich, warm sound to the mouthpiece. Rounded sidewalls add complexity to the core sound and the large round chamber puts the timbre in a warm, dark zone. The thick heavy gold plated brass band on the shank boosts the harmonics in the sound, truly making the mouthpiece a joy to play.

It’s very good quality dark sound alto saxophone mouthpiece. It’s very easy blowing. The only drawback I know so far is high price.

I played a Selmer C* for years and was hunting for a piece with a softer/darker jazz sound. Picked up the HR* Custom Dark with a 4 tip opening. I absolutely love it. I’ve had several people comment on the difference in my sound. This gets very close to that Desmond sound, limiting factor still being the guy playing it. Love the piece, Jody!

I have been playing a Selmer C*. I have only been playing for a year but I wanted a darker sound. This gives me what I wanted. I am very happy with this. Since I have only been playing a short time I bought the 4. It is perfect for me. I love the sound and yow easy it is to play
