Bought a cheap generic repair kit the first time around. Half the parts didn't fit. Spent a few extra bucks for this and it was more than worth it. The ol' Johnson fired right up after the rebuild!

My packaging didn't match the picture in the listing. With that said, the included needle and float were good as were the gaskets and it ended there. The small inner bushing and the outer seal for the low speed adjustment needle were apparently made of licorice. The inner bushing crumbled into the cavity under the Welch Plug and the outer seal crumbled when I removed the needle to see what had gone wrong. Fortunately I had saved the 12 year old parts to reinstall after clearing the orfices of the newly crumbled parts. I found a new Welch plug at my hardware store.

I made sure I had the "Original" carburetor and not a knockoff! This is the key.Because I had the original carb, this true OEM was the right fit. The gasket materials, float, etc. were quality and it was easy to install.NOTE: I was hesitant due to some of the negative reviews siting needle seats with the wrong threads and such. A very wise/mature small engine mechanic tipped me off to the fact that if I had a knockoff carb in my boat, then it would likely have metric screws verses the OEM probably had imperial/SAE threads. The key is matching a true OEM to an Original carb or matching a knockoff kit to the knockoff carb. This was great advice and something more sellers should point out. Great tip from a true professional.

Very nice kit, and it is the OEM Evinrude carb kit.It worked perfectly for my 1983 15hp Evinrude motor.Note in the kit there is a small clear plastic part called a needle bearing, it fit's on the mixture needle valve.Depending upon your model motor it might or might not be needed. On my 1983 15hp, looking at the carb schematics it was not needed on mine, but on later years it should be installed.Very happy with the kit.

My '74 Evinrude would not run without the choke and would stall when coming off of full throttle. I bought this kit and rebuilt the carb. If you have a cork float - you need this kit. Made my motor run like new. Use good oil (Klotz) and these old OMC outboards will run forever.

I received this part for my 1985 -- -15 hp Johnson outboard in 2 days from ordering it. Installed it the same day and the motor runs better than ever. The carb is hard to get at and remove, but is a most simple design and with some close observation and attention to detail the install went smoothly. Don't skimp on the rubber seal for the low speed jet. Put in the new one to make sure the threads on the jet are sealed. The motor will not ever idle right without this seal. Double check your work and pay close attention to detail. The install is reverse of the removal. I would recommend this product highly to owners of the 15hp Johnson and Evinrude. I doubt if it will work on the 9.9 hp as it is a different carb with different dimensions.
