I bought this ball for my German Shepherds, thinking it was the pliable rubber version. It's not- it's really hard plastic. At the unveiling, we thought it was a dud, but guess what? It's right up there on their favorite list. And we like it, because once we toss it around a few times, they chase it without human interaction for up to 20-30 minutes. It's totally awesome! Two cautions: 1. The dogs can't get the ball out of bushes or out from under cars- they need human interaction with that part, and 2. Pick it up and put it away when your done with play, as it will hurt most cars that run over it.

This is such a valuable toy / tool if you have a working dog without a working environment. But - there are two things dependent on you, their human, to make it such.First, and more straight-forward, you have to seal the threaded access cap so they’re not wrecking their teeth trying to pick it up. Grab a J-b Weld Kwikset Epoxy syringe (5-9 dollars from a box store) to do this. It’s so simple and straight-forward that nobody should be here complaining about the cap.If you desire to add anything to the inside of the ball, do that before you (permanently) seal the hole. This thing is a brick, so definitely don’t need to add weight:1.) Find a way to secure the ball in a well-ventilated space **AWAY FROM DOGGO** so that it’s not rolling. I used a pipe clamp, you can do this with a wall and something heavy. It should be leveled but you can eyeball it just fine.2.) Sand, lightly, the red cap and the below-flush sides of the access hole with (any low-ish grit) sandpaper.3.) Open your kwikset epoxy, attach the mixing tube, and push the clear mixture into the gap until it’s flush, or near-flush with the surface of the ball.4.) After the epoxy has settled (30 seconds) make sure you have the ball level - you’ll be able to see the resin pooling if the hole is off-center. Once corrected, squeeze out more epoxy until it’s slightly above the smooth surface of the ball.5.) The resin will dry in 5-10 minutes, and per the manufacturers instructions cure in a few hours. Its best to allow 24-hours before use, though. If your best friend is a herding dog, aka one that has an instinctual desire to control what moves, this ball will keep them B-U-S-Y. Anything smaller isn’t as captivating because it can easily be controlled. This is the root of herding - working dogs love fetch so much because a bouncing ball / frisbee is unpredictable and (for them) *must* be controlled.Second - you need to facilitate how you introduce this to your dumb friend. For me, Ace is immediately *infuriated* by his inability to pick it up or move it a great distance effectively. So, he’ll come to me and sit because he ‘needs help’. The trick is to not engage with the ball like you would anything else. Position it for them if you need to, but pick it up without eye contact / acknowledgement, put it where you want it, and walk away without engaging them. Hang outside and encourage them, but don’t give them a hand with the ball at all.

It’s a very good product! The plastic is good quality and very sturdy, my dog is a power chewer and I know he will never be abble to break that ball! The ball is bigger than I expected, I ordered a 10’’ to make sure that he won’t be abble to hold it in his mouth but it’s actually bigger than his head! Oh well, I know he will still enjoy it! But I would recommend a smaller size for medium dogs (I have a boxer mixed) because the ball is also kind of heavy.Very good purchase and for a good price!

I was astonished by the fantastic price of the 10' Red Jolly Pet Toy Push & Play Ball, then more astounded by the speed with which I received the package from HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore - FedEx could take lessons from these folks - they had wrapped the ball as if it were glass not fang/claw resistant thick plastic! I purchased the same brand, model & color of ball FOURTEEN YEARS ago & still have it. This ball has lasted through six Rottweilers, though not all six simultaneously. It's still cherished by Rottie #7, but our newest edition is a rescued Neopolitan Mastiff who needed her own ball, primarily because the boys could never get the ball from her - HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore saved my boys egos! The fang/claw remark is not meant as humorous nor exaggerated as other l large breed owners may attest. Big pup, big teeth big claws, HUGE play drive. Prior to the purchase of the new Jolly Ball Push & Play from HorseLoverZ / EastPetStore, Big Rig tires were the only toys my boys could not gleefully shred in a 24 hour period. I learned early: NEVER get stuffed toys. Fluff blizzard, shreds of of who knows, self congratulatory dog. The reason I expobunded the shenanigans of my little darlings is aimed toward those of you with, ugh, "Aggressive Chewers", thusly dubbed as such by the dog toy industry, I'm sure you know exactly to whom I refer, as well as their exorbitant prices. Sewer rats are aggressive chewers. Name one instance of a dog whose teeth held up long enough to get through concrete. My apologies, I digress. HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore, everyone brace yourselves, care for both pets & their people! Great products, great prices, great people, if that's not HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore's slogan, it should be! The majority of most large & giant breed dog are thus as they're hardwired to do a job: hunting & herding primarily & sheep farmers who teach herding skills are rare, plus sheep reek!!! Avoid the hassle & stench, just get in touch with HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore, describe your particular size/age/breed/physical limitations of your furry couch potato & they'll give some awesome suggestions. Open that package & meet a new side of your pup - David Beckham only wishes he had moves like that! I urge you all to contact HorseLoverZ / EastPetStore on behalf of your pup. Let me state clearly, Jolly Pet Toys makes awesome toys for little/medium dogs, as well, so contact HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore immediately for your pups, I most definitely will be buying from them long before the toys wear out, so should you!! I may have failed to mention earlier, HorseLoverZ / EasyPetStore know a thing or two about horses as well. Everyone enjoy the new bounce in your pups!** I would like to reassure any misinformed or biased readers of my review both of the Rottie boys I have now are "Good Citizen" award holders, both trained in Search & Rescue with over 25 live finds each. Two of my other boys gave their lives during 9/11, but not before finding & SAVING 3 NYC Firemen & 18 civilians, but locating too many they couldn't save.Just think twice the next time you see one of these big (ok, huge) guys/gals, the worst injury you're likely to suffer is a sore bottom from an enthusiastic bump. Possibly worse, they could ignore YOU completely.
