Float in powder is excellent, not as good as an all-out swallowtail powder board, but still really good. I’ve road this on days with more than 2+ feet of fresh snow, with the bindings not even set all the way back, and my back leg doesn’t get tired. There was only one day I couldn’t get it to float, and that was in 3 to 4 feet of fresh snow. The stability is excellent, it just runs over bumps and crud like it isn’t there. The difference in chatter between this and my Salomon Assassin Pro (which is an excellent board as well) is just comical, the same bumps that would toss me off balance on the Assassin are imperceptible on the Flagship. I’ve dropped 20+ foot cliffs and chutes at 60+ mph, and it eats them like they’re nothing. I don’t know who the hell the Ultra Flagship is for, how is this thing not stiff enough for anyone? It’s a bit of a boat in hard pack, turn initiation is slow unless you set the bindings way back in which case you can give it a bit more of a surfy feel that lets you whip turns around quicker. The edge hold is great though, and it carves very well at high speeds on groomer. I’m 6’2” 155 lbs size 9 boots and I ride the 158, which feels just right (I’m just a bit above the middle of the weight range for the 158). I would stick with Jones’ recommended sizing unless you’ll only be riding in fresh snow and not hard pack, in which case I would size up one size.
