Terrarium Substrate Barrier
Prevents substrate from falling into the drainage layer, which clogs the layer and reduces its effectiveness. Allows substrate to stay drier and last longer.
How to Use Substrate Barrier
Prep
Unfold barrier and place on false bottom as evenly as possible.
The excess substrate barrier can be cut or folded to fit in your specific enclosure.

Step 1
False Bottom works best when used with ABG Mix, Substrate Barrier, Sphagnum Moss, and Leaf Litter.

Step 2
Add focal points like wood and hides

Step 3
Tuck plants around the decor with tall plants in the back and shorter plants in the front.

Step 4
Springtails and isopods are small insects that eat waste, dead plant matter, and mold.

Step 5
The vivarium is ready for Dart Frogs, or other pets that like low ventilation and high humidity.

This barrier works really well and was even larger than i expected! it holds the substrate and filters water through easily.

We’re first time reptile owners and wanted to do our crusty right. After much research we decided on this layer technique for our tank as our first official tank set up. I cut the mesh to size with some extra but not enough for a second go. It’s doing it’s job of keeping the dirt up and letting the excess moisture down to be absorbed by the clay Leca balls.
