The wood finish was as I expected but as you can see from the photo, there are several imperfections.On the top and side there is some type paste to cover flaws in the wood and then there is a crack in the wood as well.You can also see that it will not close. What you see on the picture was as much as I could do to join the outer piece together.It was fully enclosed in the package, no opening, so this did not appear to be damage from shipping but place in the package that way. Needless to say it was disappointing and returned.

The largest doll arrived with a cut on it at the seam, the second largest was cracked when I opened the first and it was pretty difficult to open. I would have spent a little more to get a more finished product. Disappointed.

We bought these nesting dolls as a mother-daughter craft activity. We had so much fun! I let my daughter choose the theme: Sailor Moon.They were a traditional size and sanded very nicely for paint application.

The final sanding pass leaves a rough surface and they became quite stuck even before painting. Good shape and fun activity overall, but parents needed for separating the pieces.

I got these to paint as a gift for a friend. I had to sand the like lips(?) of some of the dolls because they were too snug which made them way to hard to open, but that only took a little effort so it wasn't much trouble. Two coats of paint for my base color worked really well; painting them all in general was a lot easier than I expected. My friend really loved getting them too.
