or wider tires, check to make sure you have sufficient clearance to install these. You need to be able to 1) fit BOTH hands and wrists between the top, outer edge of the tire and the fender wheel arch; 2) have enough room under the wheel arch/well that you can reach both hands' fingers/thumbs to the top, inner edge of the tire and 3) be able to rotate BOTH wrists a bit so that both index fingers and both thumbs can touch each other. This will allow you to connect the two cable ends and then push/shift the chains around so that they drape on the tire pretty evenly and the cable connection can be placed on the inner edge of the tire just above the wheel.Once that connection is made and positioned on the back of the tire, the rest of install is pretty easy (watch a video). If you have an SUV or crossover with higher suspension, these will be easy to install. Some passenger cars, maybe a little less so.I haven't run these in snow but I've previously run cables and much beefier chains than these. These Konigs are somewhere in between cables and heavy chains. Smoother ride but probably less durable than heavy chains but superior to cables for traction and durability. For us, these will only be used in very rare mid-atlantic situations where our winter snow tires aren't getting it done or maybe to get un-stuck if things get icy. These should be sufficient to get us up the driveway or through most conditions to a paved road. If you have 'all-season' tires and think you need these chains more than a couple times a season for anything other than emergencies, put the $100 for chains toward a pair of dedicated wheels with actual snow tires mounted. All-season means the tread and rubber compound are a compromise...in all seasons. All-wheel drive doesn't matter if the wheels are spinning and the tires aren't going where you're steering.

Works great on our 2007 Mazda3. This car is pretty terrible on icy roads against even a slight incline, but these chains transform it into a tank!Comes in a nice slim box that manages to just barely fit under the driver's seat. The low clearance on our car makes them a bit challenging to install, but I find it often helps if I turn the wheel to the side. Taking them off is a breeze... though I often worry about them getting wrapped around the axel, haven't had any problems yet. While the box does have some drainage holes, I didn't immediately clean them once, and they got a bit rusty. Gave them a little WD-40 bath and a toweling down, and they look ready for a few more seasons.

My 2011 Buick Lacrosse owner's manual says "Do not use chains. There is not enough clearance.", which means if you live in a mountainous State like California you might get stranded on some mountain passes. Fortunately, these chains are only 9 mm, which in my case let them fit the 1/2 inch gap between the tire and the strut housing. Because this gap is so small, it's also important that there's no slack in the chains, and this model's automatic tensioning system does a very good job of keeping the chain tight against the tire. Some tips on installing and removing the chains.....1) Installing the chains, particularly the first time, can be tricky, so install them first at home. You wouldn't want your first attempt to be on a cold wet road. There are also some good YouTube videos (Thule CG9) that'll help you understand the process.2) They can't be installed if any part of them is tangled. Since they will be tangled when you remove them from their container, spend some time making sure there are no twists or tangles.3) I had more trouble removing them than installing them, because it's necessary to reach behind the tire to unhook the yellow cable coupler and I couldn't find it without crawling under the car. So, note where it is during installation relative to the hooks on the frontside of the tire, or mark the tire. Preferably, when removing the chains you want to position the car so that the coupler is at the top of the tire.Once you get the hang of installing/uninstalling these chains, you'll be glad you spent the extra money for this top of the line product. Good luck

I love how easy these chains are to put on and remove. Do yourself a favor and practice a couple of times in the daylight in good weather and that will make it even easier for you in the snow. I got these for my wife's Honda Civic and they work great. They go on quickly and the car goes like a tank in the snow. Are these Thule chains worth the extra money? At 5 in the morning when it's bitter cold and snowing and you don't want to spend a lot of time fighting with those cheaper chains... Heck yes!

I have used these chains for 2 seasons and have driven hundreds of miles on them. I love them and will never use another chain. They are quick and easy to attach. I am frequently in and out of the "chain-up area" before other drivers have even straightened out their chains. The low profile, 9mm chain links make for comfortable driving even at higher speeds.I use them on a 2008 Subaru Impreza Outback. The owner's manual for this car says to never use chains or cables because they may interfere with the anti-lock brakes and steering mechanisms. This is apparently typical for smaller sports cars. But the state police won't always let me up the pass without chains installed, despite AWD and all-weather tires. I took the chains and the car to the Subaru dealership, had them put the car on a lift and install the chains. The dealership said they were fine and would not interfere with sensitive parts. I have been using these chains without issue, and after 2 seasons they show minimal wear. I fully expect to use them for 2 more seasons. I have not experienced the cable problem another reviewer had.
