Easy install if you know how to solder - took me less than an hour to put it in and I it made a cheap amazon $200 bass sound almost as good as my $1200 SR800 that is my main go to - Highly recommend - the difference in sound is nigh and day - more depth - more clairity - more punch -- Ive got a couple other passive basses Ill be modifying with this soon as I can

No instructions. I've installed and modified a lot of preamps. If possible, I add a push/pull pot to switch between active and passive electronics. This preamp might be fine if you only use it for active purposes. But it is not set up for active and passive. And without wiring diagrams and some sort of idea of how to install a push/pull pot with this circuit, it wasn't possible to. I ended up striping the pots off to use with other preamps and threw this preamp out. Save your money and buy Bartolini, Delano, or Nordstrand. You'll be better off.

No instructions or wiring diagram to be found anywhere. Nothing is really labeled, a lot of guess work and forum digging to find the basic information needed. If you can't do this, buy a set of electronics that has instructions. Not a big deal for me, seemed simple enough, and if you're at the stage where you're modifying your guitars wiring, you should probably be able to figure it out. If not, take it to a shop.

Great active preamp and EQ. I bought this as an alternative to an expensive Bartolini or Nordstrand preamp. I have not been able to compare them directly but frequency range satisfies my taste and when I turn up the bass I can feel it hit my chest.

This EQ was used to replace one that went bad in my Shecter Omen-4 bass guitar. I had no problem with the installation, but I have some experience with soldering and electronics. Might be difficult for someone without any soldering experience. No instruction came with it, but I was able to read this comment section and gather enough information to get it done.Other than that, this active EQ was put together very well, and I did not have any broken soldering spots or anything as some have mentioned. Sounds great in my guitar and I love it!

so, my recipe for apartment living.1. Buy a marshall 15watt guitar amp on the cheap (I paid $25) change driver to a GRS 8PT, seal the back and 2" port 2" long to make a ported cabinet... nice...2. Head over to walmart search on zimtown bass guitar. Find the burlywood one for $79.... that thing actually plays !!!!, no dead frets, no fret buzz... wow.3. BUY THIS. I got the 3 channel, cause I wanted to know what the mid would do for me, but I ended up leaving it centered and inside the cavity.I just did the 4 knob with volume, upper/lower pickup, treble and bass. I even left the battery in the existing cavity wrapped in bubble.I have a real honest bass setup, and I didn't break the bank. who knew it was possible???? The only thing I had to do other than wire up the pickups and ground wirewas to slightly enlarge the 1/4" jack hole. The included jack is slightly larger in diameter due to thicker/better jack.(and yes you need to keep the jack that's wired up as it is also the switch to turn on the power to the preamp.)

UPDATE: I've purchased 3 Band version for another project (MB 5 type IYV) and very happy with the quality and sound. Good soldering, wiring. the only suggestion is female jack connector - it's too fat to fit to the side hole. Had to replace it with another one.Last year:I've installed it to Passive Spector bass. This was second attempt after another basic amp. The first one did noting - no low control, no hi boost - just add battery now. This unit definitely make difference - you can control hi and low up and down but its lacking comparing with OEM pre-amps. Another cons - center positions on pods (hi-low-balance) - no longer noticeable - low quality pods. I'll go to better model next time

Absolute rubbish, the first one turned up power to it but nothing out, the second one turned up and exactly the same problem

I'm very happy with this product. It installed in just a few minutes and sounds great. I bought the 2-band model because I only had 4 holes for knobs in my bass. The sound is very clean and punchy and there is plenty of tonal variety offered by the boost/cut treble and bass controls. The output is very high, so in my opinion, the mid band may not be needed. If you want a more mid heavy tone, turn down the bass and treble and boost the volume.I have active pickups, so I had to connect the hot, red wire of my pickups to the red wire of the battery lead. The manufacturer made this easy by stripping a quarter inch length of wire in the middle of the battery lead. This is covered with a bit of black shielding that can be slid back to make quick work of soldering on your leads. The p1 and p2 holes on the blend knob were a bit small and difficult to get the pickup wires in, but once that was done, the install was a snap.I HIGHLY recommend this product.
