the tang is very short. and, it fits in a grove. not even a mortise. the thru cut would have been really uncomfortable. it's okay after I rapped the whole handle in fusion tape.

I was using an axe from WalMart as my wood chopper at camp, but it only could do so much..so as soon as I could I buy this Nata, I did..took it out for Labor Day camping and it chopped wood effortlessly..and when I had to shave the wood for kindle, it worked just as well..made the whole fire wood process go so much faster..this is product is very well made
