Don’t spend the amount that BGE wants for their heat deflector. Used this in my egg to smoke bologna and cream cheese and it worked so good. Packaging was great to keep it safe too

This Plate Settler for my Medium Big Green Egg works. I use it to cook chicken directly on the plate settler by flipping it over (legs point skyward) or I reverse it (legs point to the ground) and use as a charcoal smoke diffuser to slowing cooking ribs, chicken, vegetables, or whatever you wish. Plus, I do not have to be concern about it cracking or breaking, like my previous ceramic diffuser. Recently, I did by a new ceramic diffuser, still in the box. I will use it for cooking pizza.

IT REDUCES THE HEAT AND MAKES IT EASIER TO CONTROL THE TEMP WHEN COOKING LOGER PERIODS OF TIME. IT WAS MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAT MOST OTHERS I VIEWED
