I required 60 large circles for an elaborate quilt, and it was so much quicker to use this method to achieve this result.

Tried to use these twice in the first week. A bit disappointing that the size I wanted was in between two circles

I loaned my original set then found I needed them so bought a 2nd set. I have the smaller sizes as well. Easy to use. Great for many applique applications.

This is a good option to using freezer paper and provides smooth edges to work with. They are heat resistant as promisedI found it a little more challenging than I expected and still experimenting with methods to get a smooth edge

The variety of circle sizes is good. Wish there were some smaller sizes. The instructions are clear to use thread to pull in the circumference, then use starch to stabilize the unit. In my sample, I followed directions but use machine application instead of hand sewing.

The Karen Kay Buckley Perfect circles are amazing. I'm new to applique and was introduced to these mylar circles by Jen Kingwell. I used the circles to cut the correct sized piece of circular fabric for my project, adding a 1/4" seam allowance. Then I sew a line of small stitches around the circle in that seam allowance, leaving the ends of thread about 2" long. Then, using the tails of the thread, pull the thread to gather the edges of the fabric around the circular template. Then I use my iron (set on silk setting) to press the seam allowance around the template. Remove the template and then I have a perfect circle to applique to my project. As long as I take small stitches on the gathering stitch, I get a nice round circle.

These circles work really well for creating consistent-sized circles without having to draw/cut your own. Unfortunately, the sizes are not printed on the circles and there is no hole pre-punched in them so that you can add them to the ring of Karen's smaller circles but that can easily be remedied. I simply used a Sharpie pen and measured/wrote the sizes on each circle (I also wrote the maximum iron heat setting to use so that I wouldn't forget) and used a hand paper punch to punch holes. The thing to remember with when using these circles to make applique shapes is don't use an iron set on anything above a medium heat! If you do, the plastic circle will warp and it becomes useless for making a nice clean applique. The package comes with two each of 10 different sizes (for a total of 20 circles) ranging in size from 2-1/4 to 4-1/2-inch in quarter-inch increments. If you are also curious about Karen's other products and you found this review helpful, click on my name above for my other reviews.
