The Colonel's Kernel Catcher Popcorn Bowl was invented by a dentist and revolutionizes the way we eat popcorn - reducing the risk of tooth injury from hard, un-popped kernels. The smooth plastic bowl with an injection-molded sieve that lets "old maids" - un-popped kernels and shells to fall out of the bottom of the tray that screws onto the bowl bottom. The Kernel Catcher's bowl holds 1 bag / 4 quarts of popped corn. This is not a corn popper. NO NOT USE IT IN THE MICROWAVE. How it works: Pour popped corn into the Kernel Catcher bowl with the bottom tray screwed on. Put the lid in place and shake gently. Un-popped kernels and shells fall through the sieve at the bottom of the bowl and land in the tray. Remove the lid and enjoy the popcorn treat. When done, unscrew the tray and discard the un-popped kernels. The dishwasher-safe smooth plastic surface of the Kernel Catcher makes clean-up easy. Works great. Just a few shakes and the unpopped kernels go to the bottom. Then you just unscrew the bottom when you want to discard the unpopped kernels.

I usually over cook my popcorn to try to minimize kernels. But no more! This kernel catcher came today, and had an excellent first use for movie night. Highly recommended.

The bottom screws on, is secure. Pour about 1/2 full of popped corn, shake, unpopped corn falls through holes into screwed on lid, unscrew lid, empty. Go again sifting through popped corn. Is a lifesaver, especially when wanting clean unpopped kernel free corn for recipes such as caramel corn, popcorn balls or simply plain popped corn to eat without worrying about chomping on an unpopped kernel. It is not meant to pop the corn in, just to sift popped corn free of unpopped kernels. A must.

I love this product!! There is a popcorn shop that I love to buy from, but I don't always travel through the town they are in, so I buy it online and have it shipped to my house every now and then. My only complaint about their popcorn is that when I get closer to the bottom of the bag, there are a lot of little pieces of popcorn and kernels. This product has eliminated all of those little things that I hated!! They are all collected in the bottom that way every hand full I pull from the bucket is just pure popped popcorn!! This is very easy to clean in the dishwasher as well.

I used this thing last night and it worked perfectly! I was skeptical that all of the un-popped kernels would make their way down to the catcher, but the sure enough did. I did put the lid on and shake the bowl around a bit after I poured my bag of popcorn in, just to help those little suckers on their way. I did get a couple of half popped kernels in the bowl still, but I can usually chomp right through those with minimal discomfort. I gave this 4 stars because the lid doesn't actually snap on. It just sort of sits on top. I didn't go back to read the description to see if this is how it is supposed to be, or if I got a dud, but even if the lid is designed to just sit on top, snapping down would obviously be better. So, great product. With a few tweaks it would be perfect. Side note: I have run this through the dishwasher with no problems.
