Follow these steps on how to replace your Toyota key head battery with ease:

  1. Hold the key fob with the buttons facing up and the metal key blade pointing away. Look for a small seam or notch along the edge where the fob’s plastic housing splits—usually on the side or bottom opposite the key.
  2. Use a flathead screwdriver or coin to gently pry open the key fob at the seam by inserting the tool and twisting it.
  3. Carefully lift out the old battery. Insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Snap the key fob halves back together firmly.
  5. Test the key fob by pressing the lock and unlock buttons to ensure it’s working.
