As with many things you often get what you pay for. This is no exception. The quality is amazing. It's heavy duty, and doesn't feel cheap. Pressing buttons with my feet is perfect, no issues at all. I read some reviews of people saying it was too difficult to press but that's not been my experience. Plus there is a thing you can use to change how heavy or light you want the pedals. Most important of all is I didn't have to download any software! The cheaper pedals make you use software which is dodgy at best and can make your computer run a few % slower, it adds up though.

I’ve played Escape from Tarkov for a year as my first PC game in over a decade. I entered the game with a hand injury and found certain key binds difficult, but I got them down. The one thing I couldn’t get, leaning. After watching Geekseh for a bit and listening to him preach the gospel, I picked up a set of pedals. I did some research and found these. These pedals are robust. I can rest my feet on top of the pedals and then apply the pressure needed to actuate the switch, no problem. No false inputs and the switch holds the weight of my foot without me having to do a weird hover thing. The switches are clicky and defined. The pedal itself, while plastic, is thick and doesn’t feel like it break if I stomp a little too hard. These pedals have enabled me to play the game I love to the fullest and you can’t put a price on that.

Well built, sturdy, metal construction with a firm, solid feel. Although there are apps to configure this, the manual gives instructions for writing your own configuration file. Unlike many other footswitches, Mac users do not need a PC to program the SE2.For the Mac, there are things to know. Per Kinesis Support: "if you intend to use the SE2 to modify keypresses on a keyboard, this will not work, MacOS has a limitation where it will not allow one USB device to modify another." and that is correct. The workaround is to to treat it as a specialized input device such as a trackball or mouse. Download a mouse controller such as Steermouse and now you have a lot more functionality including the ability to assign keyboard modifiers such as Cmd, Sht, Opt and Cntl. Ok, Steermouse is not free but, if you need this functionality, you pay the 20 bucks after the a 30 day eval period. The instructions and onboard apps predate 64 bit MacOS but the web site has the updated app. You run it on your Mac and save the pedals.txt file to the Active folder inside the SE2.

The software that comes in the pedal is dated 2016 (and is 32 bit), so will not load on Catalina. I was able to upgrade to a beta driver with the help of a product tech at Kinesis, but I write software for a living. It would be a tough install for someone with less technical experience. The Kinesis website does not admit to the problem, you have to submit a trouble ticket to get answer. I had already started the Amazon return process, before I realized that there was no other domestically made pedal, that wouldn't force me to load software from some unknown company based in China on my Mac. A bad actor could really mess up your computer with software that forces you to override Apple's software security protection just to install the software. So I installed their "not ready for general release" software and the pedal works vey well.Kinesis: get your act together and release up to date software for your pedal, and until it is ready, own up to the problem.5 stars for the pedal hardware, zero stars for the software's readiness for market, so 3 stars overall.

I got this to relieve discomfort in my hands from repretetive mouse clicking, and that goal was achieved 10-fold. My RSI hand problems have gone away (Also credited to this kinesis product). Highly recommended for anyone with similar problems.PROS:- Quality build, theres nothing cheap-feeling about the design and construction.- Long chord- Programming works wellCON:- You can adjust the tension of the pedal on the bottom, but the range of options is not very extensive. It would be nice if the pedals could be adjusted to be just a little more sensitive, as even the most sensitive setting is slightly 'stiff' to press. This is not a huge issue, just a minor nit-pickHighly recommended to anyone!!

I ordered this to use as an alternative to the left and right buttons on my mouse.I did this because I have RSI, and even the simple act of clicking a mouse button can become very painful for me.I ordered from Kinesis because I heard good things about them, and I assumed that they know what they're doing. For the high price (I think it was over $100?) I expected good quality. But I was very disappointed. These pedals require a LOT of force to push down (enough to move my entire body!), they have a large actuation distance, (the distance you must travel before the device registers a click/keypress), there is NO tactile or audible feedback for when you've actually successfully PRESSED the button, and there is a HUGE "dead zone" that must be traversed (moving your foot back upwards) before the device will RELEASE the click/keypress. And, there's no feedback for when the keypress is released, either.Opening up the unit, I found out why. It's an incredibly lazy design.... they just took a normal sized mouse switch, and placed a strip of metal over top of it, anchoring the metal on one side, to act as a 3rd-class lever. The other side of the metal extends upwards, resting against the roof of the footpedal. The metal is quite flexible, which is definitely what is to blame for the enormous actuation distance, and the dead zone. Also, the switch that they used is very small, so of course you can't feel when it is actually pressed down or released.Very disappointing design. Nearly unusable for accurate mouse clicks. Nearly impossible to double-click with. This is only useful for general actions what don't require much finesse, like stopping and starting a teleprompter, or holding down a modifier key like CTRL... but I'm not even sure of that...
