I didn't even get to use it before the connection on the bottom decided it wanted to be a regular lantern and so now it will not fold I have tried everything I've watched videos and still nothing

This is a modern, slightly smaller replica of the Stonebridge automatic folding lantern. It is cheaply made in comparison to an original (shown in the photos) but not too bad for the price. The same item can be bought on specialty websites where they sell for more. The originals were generally made from galvanised tin whereas these are made from brass. The candle holder is smaller on these replicas and needs some work to fix properly. The vents are smaller than the original and there are fewer of them.Ultimately, for the price and availability they're OK.Photos show a comparison with the original and also the Garrett Wade limited anniversary edition copy.

Awesome!! I love the old style look and how it folds up for easy packing in your bag. Not sure what the window panes are made of but it looks real nice and hasn’t burned or warped from the candle. Highly recommend

I like this lantern. It is well made and very practical. The only thing to note is that when you hang it by upper loop it is hanging a little bit tilted, because center of gravity is shifted.

It is built and exactly what I was expecting but when getting it out of the packaging and setting it up it just didn’t seem new. The front window has tons of scratches and scuff marks and a dent and scuff in the metal on the bottom area. There is an abundance of oil on it to the point of having a long drip down the left window. Also the corners on the bottom are sharp and cut me so I’ll be smoothing those out before taking it on the next trip. After wiping it down it is a nice piece and I know I’ll have it looking used in no time but for the price was expecting it to look a bit less used out of the box. Still glad I got it but wanted to make these issues known.

Lovely, brass folding candle lantern. Fits UCO type candles and is fairly lightweight. Folds out easily and packs away into a relatively small package, that will fit into any pack. It’s larger than I thought, but that is a good thing. This will function extremely well in any old school bushcraft loadout, and even gives off a small amount of heat due to the brass top which might warm up a cold tent slightly.I think I’ll buy one or two more at a later date.

Its a pretty slick and ingenious little lantern. like that it folds. It will hold UCO candles. I used the beeswax ones and they worked fine. I used it this past week while at a scout camp. It does not give out the enormous amount of light that LED lamps or flashes do, but no that's not why I got it anyway. It gives off enough light that I can see what's near me and it doesn't blow out your night vision I can still look at the stars without turning it off. I was able to set it on the ground and it is stable enough that I didn't worry about it falling over and I was able to enter m to pack without using a headlamp. I mostly pack by feel anyway but this gave just enough light. It's more than ambiance lighting but less than a bright lantern. I recommend it but some may not appreciate the yellow of a real lantern light or feel that the woods are too close to them without the burning white of a 1,000,000 lumen LED flashlight. It's made of brass and the handle never got too hot to hold. It folds so there is some play in left and right but that's expected. The side glasses are lexan and not actual glass like back in the day so not prone to breaking and won't melt from a little candle inside. The back is shiny metal and is reflective enough to see by.In the pics, it's sitting on the floor of the base of the scout tent. If it's hanging higher, it would be enough to light it up. Dimly since it's a single candle. Sitting outside my backpacking tent in the woods it would be perfect.

This is a really great item. I purchased this for WW1 reenacting. This candle lantern came with brass frame and glass windows. The back part where the candle sits has a reflective metal material. The lantern folds up very neatly. The only Con I had was that it did not come with a candle. Candles this size are hard to find in the store. I will be making my own candle mold for bee's wax candles. You won't be disappointed.

This lantern is made well from a cool and unique idea with fine craftsmanship. 5/8 diameter candles fit well in the lantern as it is. However, I took a cap from a spray can that fits the 8 hour beeswax candles. I formed a clip so it fits right in the candle base that can be easily removed to fold the lantern up for storage or travel if desired. The lantern is a wonderful addition to any fireplace mantel or shelf and it’s a great conversation piece. It’s a well thought out design and build. It’s well worth the money and I would recommend this for any collector or enthusiast. Surprise someone in your life with this as a gift that will be shown off as a decoration or a nice candle light. Yes, I do recommend this. It’s not cheaply made but you shouldn’t be rough with it’s fold up design. As I mentioned it’s a great deal. Good luck. Happy Thanksgiving and May God Bless.

Different from the "original" Stonebridge lanterns insofar as material and dimensions, but conceptually the same. This reproduction of Charles Stonebridge's lantern is at the very least, a functional spiritual successor. It would have been nice if the gauge of brass were a touch thicker (I believe it's 24 or 26 gauge), if it were as tall as the original, or had the rectangular vent holes, but that being said, the originals were quite thin too, the extra heigh makes for extra weight, and a vent hole is a vent hole no matter the shape. The thin gauge metal functions as both a feature and a flaw: the brass can be adjusted by hand for improved fit, and by the same token, the brass can be adjusted by accident (read: being dropped). It should also be noted that care must be had when folding the lantern, as the mica panes (marvelously heat resistant) are quite fragile, and can be cracked or broken if mishandled. Thankfully, mica panes are easy to find through some stove supply shops, and there's always the internet. If you are a tinkerer, or inclined to make personal adjustments, this is a fair product for you. If you are looking to carry Camp and Trail's top rated lantern of 1907, are looking to improve authenticity of a WWI era Canadian Expeditionary Force solder's kit, or simply like the look of an early 20th century lantern, I'd say this would suit those need. Hardly a replacement for modern camp lighting implements, but for the eccentric, luddite, or nostalgic, this serves handily. Treat it well, and it will be worth the price-tag.
