I was surprised at how well these work and ended up buying more of them. The water tastes so pure and fresh!

I like to use charcoal, but never really sure if it is working. I asked the seller why the charcoal make the water black, but I never received any answer. Does anybody else noticed that the water with charcoal gets black, no too black, but still a little bit darker.

Have one in my water pitcher and one in my thermos that I use for only water when I leave the house. Cannot taste it and does a great job at filtering my water (I have well water so it isn't harsh to begin with though).Make sure you boil once about every month (couple minutes, it comes with instructionsso no worries). I noticed a huge difference in its ability to filter after not boiling it for 2 months. The water was noticeably different as it made it foggy and taste really off.I fill the pitcher at night and leave on my counter without the lid on at night. Works in the fridge too but I'm weird and don't care for cold water.I recommend if you are interested.

i got it today and just tried it, my water used to taste weird and made my mouth a little dry, i used to boil it then let it cool then drink it and still i can taste a hint of that chlorine, but with this one it just removes all the bad odor and taste of chlorine and other stuff, its really simple and natural

I was born and raised in Japan. My mom and grandma always had a piece of charcoal in the rice container. Of course, I didn't care back then, but when I noticed my aged (my kids were fan of brown rice...so 5 year old?) raw brown rice had a sticky texture with smell in the mason jar. After washing well, it cooks well but didn't like the feel and remember my childhood seeing a charcoal in the rice container. I tossed this charcoal and dried hot peppers (whole, 5of them.) About week later, no sticky, funky smell at all! I started mixing brown rice to white rice (1:4) so my kids eat brown rice. (Hot peppers to prevent weevils.)Also, some sushi chef place a bincho charcoal on top of rice to cook to improve quality of rice. I haven't done that yet...no excited to clean a charcoal from sticky rice at this moment.

My tap water now tastes great and has a consistent 7.0 alkaline ph level. Very easy to use charcoal pieces. I boil them once a month and let them dry according to the handy instructions and there is a 4 month reminder included. I purchased on Amazon, 6 nonleaded glass bottles with stainless steel lids. I keep two bottles reserved for each charcoal stuck. I pour that water once it sits for about 2-3 hours into an empty the bottles. I dont drink from any of the bottles and I have a constant supply of great water to use for cooking or drinking. After 4 months I will crush up the sticks for my compost pile. I reordered another package of the charcoal sticks already. These bottles are easy to travel with and I just keep them in the sturdy box they came in. FYI, I checked the ph level using water from my RO filter system and 5.0 was the number, very acidic. So use tap water with these charcoal sticks, I love em! Been using them for 4 months and I haven’t had any physical problems.

My review is about one week after I started using this item. I put it in a Klean Kanteen stainless steel bottle. I don't believe plastic containers are recommended to use this in. I'm using this with filtered water from a machine at Publix, and the taste is the same. What's important is the water hasn't changed negatively which is a good thing, so I'm assuming the stick is working as described. Bottom line I'm happy with the product.

Have been using kishu for a few years now as a plastic free alternative to Brita filters. I love the taste they add to water, fresh and clean. We use pitcher and water bottle size in a klean kanteen which is great for on the go. When they reach their end of life I crush them in a plastic bag (do this on a surface like concrete or stone that won’t scratch bc the bits are very hard!) and put them in base of my house plants or mixed into dirt to reduce mold and retain moisture!

Very convenient for use in my glass water bottles. Takes some of the chemical taste out of water same as a Brita pitcher would do, but much more flexibility with kishu. Totally biodegradable. Great purchase for the price. I bought a glass water bottle and pitcher to use with my Kishu to avoid BPA from plastics. Doesn't remove fluoride but most other filters don't either unless you are buying a very expensive filtration system.
