First problem when looking to fix our Kohler shower faucet was what do they call this plastic piece that was broken. Obviously, it's a Stem Driver! (If I didn't get lucky finding this part on Amazon I would have never come up with that name).Second problem is coming up with the correct part # as there are different Kohler "stem drivers" to choose from. Some reviews say that the part # is on the plastic. There might be, but I didn't find it, so I ended up going by the look. This part looked exactly like the old one, at least from the top. Two issues with this: they don't show a picture from underneath, so I wasn't positive that this had an open inside on the bottom portion (which it does). Also, not perfectly clear that the lower portion is a square with rounded corners (which it is). Inside portion is designed to slip over the square metal piece on the diverter (metal piece in the wall).Third problem, the measurements. The item is described as 1.5 x 1.5 x 1. First off, what the heck are they measuring. They don't tell you if 1.5 is the outer portion of the round at the top or the width of the square below. Turns out nothing is 1.5".I was excited to try this out, so I forgot to measure it before installing, so now I'm measured the old broken part. The height of the part is slightly less than 0.9". The diameter of the larger circle portion near the top is 0.9". The circle at the very top is 0.61". The inside of the square at the top is .3125". The hollow square at the bottom, outer diameter 0.8", inner around 0.6". My old part is broken so some of these numbers are not as exact, however they are much closer than the ones in the description.Outcome: I needed a very small hex head wrench to remove the old "stem driver". Once that was removed, putting the new one in was easy. Just have to be careful when aligning this "stem driver" to the metal square piece that it slides over. Once installed, the faucet works perfectly and this "stem driver" was inexpensive, so I'm very happy.

This was the exact right part for my Kohler Devonshire Handle. After having a plumber tell me we needed to replace the valve and almost spending $300+ for that repair, my husband and I realized the plumber was wrong and the little plastic piece inside the handle was the problem. If your water won’t turn on and the handle just spins around, this part is what needs to be replaced. So happy we only spent $11 rather than $300+. Shipping was fast, too.

This is exactly the part I needed. My newer designer Kohler handle was twisting endlessly and not grabbing onto the valve. This new stem has a deeper cut that perfectly fits the square shaped protrusion on the handle. I also added a lock-washer to keep the screw tight. It works like a dream.
