good all-weather performance, but squeegee feature wears off quickly but while it is there, it helps remove water and grit to protect rim and enhance wet braking.

These are the best brake shoes to get! Cheaper than a lot of stock brake shoes and they stop better in wet or dry conditions

I have been running these on my road bike stock 105 flight deck for years. I am content with the stopping power and how long they last. Even worn, they seem to retain much of the original stopping power, and don't tear up my rims. I ride rurally, so I don't spend much time braking, though I do ride in the rain.My only comment is that if I orient the pad so that the R is upright, and the arrow points in direction of rotation, it automatically aligns with the left side. To use it on the left, I need to invert it so that Kool Stop is facing up. I just insert them in the direction of the arrows, and ignore the R and L. The Kool Stop site is noticeably silent on the subject.

I got a new to me used road bike and wanted to make some minor upgrades. It was suggested to me that I get salmon Kool Stop brake pads as they stop better in wet conditions. As soon as I got them on I noticed a difference, even in completely dry conditions. These pads are awesome.

It's hard to beat the real Shimano stuff and frankly - stopping-wise - I'm not sure if the differing design of the ridges on these versus what comes on the stock Shinanos is helping me to stop any faster. But there does seem to be an increase in performance when wet and they certainly work as well as the Shimanos but are cheaper yet seem to have some great ratings and durability. I've had them on for a season now with no appreciable wear over what is normal for, say, Shimanos.Of course they install just like any other brake pads, and have no weirdness or anything special needed to get them aligned correctly. They have a bit of a taper which would seem to be a great design for more stopping power. Are they better than Shimanos? Likely at least for certain conditions, as above. Get 'em, you won't regret it.

Bought these brakes for my road bike, after the old ones had been destroyed by the previous owner. Not only do these do the job in normal weather, they far exceed expectations for wet weather as well. They are extremely easy to install, by removing a single screw and switching the old with the new. There's no way to mix up the direction, as the screw can only fit in one side.I went from rims that were getting scratched up and weathered-looking, to clean, skid free rims with extraordinary brakes.I Highly reccommend these brakes to anyone considering buying high end replacements. The utility with these things far exceeds the low price that is offered.I did not receive a discount on this item, and am writing an honest and unbiased review for other people.

An improvement over just about any OEM brake pad. One of the first things I do if I have to replace a brake set or put together a new bike is switch to the appropriate size Kool Stops. Stopping power is significantly improved. The rims stay cleaner (no build up from the worn pad) and don't get chewed up. They are pretty much silent once set up correctly. Couple of minor points: If you've had other break pads on your rims before they must be super clean when you switch to these--any remaining build up from your old pads will cause squealing. They are already shaped to create toe in, you don't need to angle the shoes much. Finally, they do tend to squeal a bit until they get "broken in" and conform to your rims. I find that one longish descent during which I feather the brakes on and off usually takes care of it. FYI, these fit a more brakes than Dura-Ace and Ultegra. I'm currently using them on Tektro 720 (2013 model) canti brakes and they have transformed them.
