The build quality is superb, reminiscent of a fortified tank, providing impressive protection to whatever it is latched onto.My confidence in this product was so high that I purchased a second one for my other bike. Such is the assurance that Kryptonite Evolution 1090 offers, making it an essential purchase for those concerned about the security of their bikes.However, it's important to note a couple of drawbacks. One being the weight of the lock. It is significantly heavy, which is not surprising considering the high level of security it provides, but can be inconvenient during rides. When wrapped around the middle of my bike, it certainly adds an extra burden that some might find off-putting.The second drawback is the time it takes to lock up due to the required multiple wraps around the bike. This can be a minor annoyance for those in a hurry or those who lock and unlock their bikes frequently throughout the day.Despite these downsides, the Kryptonite Evolution 1090 is a solid investment if your primary concern is bike security. It's an insurance against theft that brings peace of mind, especially for high-value e-bikes. Just be prepared for the additional weight and a bit of extra time spent securing your bike. If you can overlook these minor inconveniences, you'll find this product to be a reliable guardian for your valuable ride.

First of all, this is a really heavy chain, about 6lbs. If weight is an issue then move along. If not, you can rest assured that this chain will definitely deter bike theft.If this chain is good enough for the lockpicking lawyer, then it's probably good enough for you.This chain also comes with $3000 insurance for your bike once you register it which imo is a huge perk if anything actually happens. So good that I bought 2!

This is a good chain lock from a reputable company that has a great reputation and stands by its products.Pros: good build quality, thick chain links, protective layers on most of the chain, hard to pick the lock mechanism, company website offers a key registry program and a theft assurance program.(can’t call it insurance because it’s not🤷♂️)Cons: this chain is Heavy! Make sure this chain is practical for its purpose. I got it for my 120lbs+ dual motor, e-bike with 3 batteries. So it’s practical for me but even I feel the weight affecting my ride nonetheless. The locking mechanism is complex and delicate so you need to make sure you lock and unlock the the chain properly. Always make sure the key goes in all the way in and never force the key because you will damage the mechanism.And lastly I’ve read that the assurance program that says it will give you money if their lock fails in a theft but I’ve read that it’s only for bikes that are already insured and it’s in the fine print.. which i myself cannot find.Conclusion: this is a good lock, it will deter most thieves during short to moderate lock up durations even in high crime areas. I feel totally confident leaving my desired e-bike locked in NYC for 5-30 minutes. No lock is theft proof but this one is one hell of a deterrent. I’m overall happy with my purchase and recommend this product

This is the first big investment in securing my bike. I am using this on a $210 Huffy so I feel like this lock being almost half the value of the bike makes sense, and the build quality of the look seems pretty good. That said I will not be truly putting it to the test, and I hope it is never tested by any would be bike thieves.As for the function well it comes with two keys one has a small blue LED to light it up in the dark. I am going to say right now mine didn't really work so I removed the LED for a project, and the key does key things:P As for the lock its self. Well it weighs around 6lbs or double my $17 Kryptonite lock. The chain is a lot thicker than said lock, and the lock has a much better shackle/locking lug. There are pros and cons to that. the main one is you have to unlock the lock before you can lock the chain in place, or you have to leave the key in as you feed the chain through the bike rack. The cheap model you just shove the chain in while the lock is in the lock position and you're good to go. That said I'll take the slightly clunky nature of the evolution series 4 any day for the security it adds.All in all I'd say if you need a nice lock pick this one up. it is heavy, and clunky at times, but you have to ask if your investment into your bike is worth it. For me it was a no brainer since I use my bike as my primary transportation, and I'd rather spend $90 for a nice lock than $210 for a replacement bike. My other complaint would be this before I forget. this lock isn't super long so it only really works on one bike so riding partners will need their own lock, and the main thing that this only really fits bike racks, or thinner objects it wouldn't fit around a tree or street light for example, or at least I haven't been able to make that work.

Per quanto banale, al momento la mia soddisfazione è alta e probabilmente lo rimarrà se non subirò il furto della bicicletta nonostante l'uso di questo prodotto. La catena si presenta robusta, sicuramente piuttosto pesante, dotata di un lucchetto integrato e ritegno sia un buon deterrente antifurto se utilizzata in modo adeguato per agganciare la bicicletta ad un sostegno stabile (compatibilmente poi con il luogo ed i tempi per i quali viene lasciata incustodita). Chiaramente un ladro motivato con gli strumenti giusti potrebbe comunque avere la meglio sulla catena, ma il prodotto mi sembra affidabile per evitare il furto da parte di ladri "comuni" non troppo specializzati/attrezzati.La catena viene venduta con un set di tre chiavi numerate, per le quali è data la possibilità di registrare il numero in modo da chiedere la sostituzione in caso di smarrimento. Inoltre, è possibile registrare sul sito del produttore una richiesta di "protezione antifurto" per ricevere un rimborso in caso il proprio mezzo venga rubato nonostante l'uso della catena (l'offerta per questo modello di catena può essere registrata per 1 anno a titolo gratuito o fino a 5 anni pagando una cifra tutto sommato contenuta).Un ultimo commento riservato al fatto che sulla catena è presente l'indicazione relativa alla presenza di prodotti chimici, come il piombo, che sono noti agenti tossici/cancerogeni/teratogeni. Si tratta di dicitura apposta per conformità ad una legge in vigore in California che, se ben capisco, obbliga i produttori ad apporre tale dicitura anche quando la presenza delle sostanze pericolose in questione è inferiore ai limiti di legge. Ritengo che l'effettivo contenuto di tali sostanze non sia necessariamente nocivo, anche tenuto conto dell'esposizione limitata cui ci si sottopone usando la catena (credo che nessuno passi il tempo avvinghiato alla catena, no?). Peraltro, dati i tempi che corrono, lavarsi le mani una volta in più dopo aver maneggiato la catena - come suggerito nelle indicazioni allegate - non sia un gran problema. In altre parole, non credo che questa dicitura debba dissuadere dall'acquisto se si reputa il prodotto adeguato alle proprie esigenze di sicurezza del mezzo con il quale si intenda utilizzarla.
