That mount is recommended by KYB in their catalog for Prius but in fact is incompatible with a KYB strut.

These were identical to the OEM mounts on my 2013 Toyota Prius other than the threaded studs and nuts.2 month update:After 1,000 miles one side is failing and I will have to tear down and re-do this job with OEM parts. Driver side started clicking like mad as I turn the wheel.Update 2:I replaced the bad bearing with an OEM one from the dealer and found out what happened. I didn’t clean the mating face that goes against the bearing and there was a small rock there! That’s what caused the bearing to become damaged. My fault, not the part. The OEM bearing looked exactly like this one. Cost for the OEM mounts and bearings is $400 and they appear to be 100% identical so these really are a good deal.

Purchased 2 of these to install along with TRD springs and new KYB struts in a 2012 Scion tC.You need to know that the plastic bushing needs to be installed properly on the strut mount, and both that I ordered were delivered with the bushing on upside down. The flat side of the bushing faces up against the strut mount, and the flanged side of the bushing faces down toward the dust boot and the spring. There's a plastic o-ring that fits into a groove in the bushing, which may have come loose in transit. You should have a good amount of moly grease between the bushing and the mount, because the struts twist some as the front wheels turn. The mounts come with generic instructions, which really only show how to disassemble a Macpherson strut without it exploding under spring pressure when you remove the top nut from the strut shaft. The instructions do not show which way the bushing goes on the mount. The struts shafts are D-shaped where the strut mount fits over them. Align the D-shaped hole in the strut mount so that the flat on the strut shaft mates with the flat side of the hole. There is a bushing that goes on over the strut shaft, on top of the strut mount, before threading on the Nyloc nut. You should be using a new Nyloc nut, do not reuse the old one. You can buy replacement nuts from the dealership for about $1.50 each. Also not covered on the instruction sheet. The mounts come with nuts to hold the mount to the car, but note that you will need a 15mm socket for them. They are not 14mm like the Toyota part.

I replaced this on my 2012 Prius to cure a tapping noise when going over bumps. I also replaced the strut. KYB is the OE manufacturer for Toyota so it made sense to use these and not spend more money at the dealer.

When you're trying to determine if you need this or just the bushing, take a look at the seal that goes around the area that holds the bushing. If it seals snugly against the other mating surface, you should be good with just a new bushing. If it leaves a gap, I would recommend getting a new strut mount. Reason being is that this seal is what protects the bushing from sand, debris, etc. If it's spread out like the ones on my prius were, it's not gonna protect like it should.
