I replaced a set of D'addario Chromes with these strings and I found them to be much easier to play. These seem to be a good alternative to the expensive TI flats.

After a long run with Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats (>20 years!) I decided to give these a try, mostly for the low tension. The neck on my bass had gradually developed a bit more relief than I want, so I took it to a great local guitar tech for a set up and had him install these. I wish I'd tried them years ago! The TI's were (for me) always considered the 'gold standard' in flat wound strings. I have tried the LaBella Deep Talkin' set and didn't care for them. The price of the TI's has gone way up I suppose due to the nickel, and they're known to be a relatively high tension set, thus the selection of these Low Tension Flats. They rock! If you like flat wound strings, this is it! The lows are really good like other flats, but the high's are so good, just where so many flat wound strings suffer! Very articulate and clear-- almost like a round wound string on the G. Love these! Now if they last like the TI's...

Love the tone and feel of these Low tension Labella flats! The feel is awesome also!I have always played round wounds but no longer as these have a better fundamental projection, no fret noise and plays faster without loosing the brightness like some flats.

I put these on a Sandberg TM5 super light bass to compare them to the LaBella deep talkin' flats. The are buttery smooth and full sounding on this instrument. Despite being low tension, the strings are not floppy and even the low B sounds crisp. These are the strings you can play for hours.

I play with a Praise band, and the flats on my Yamaha BB 5-string make the right P-J sound for most worship songs, but, traditional flats can sound too dead for some songs and are harder to play because of the heavier gauge on flats. These strings answer both those questions with an easy playing thinner flat the can provide a brighter sound needed on many songs. I especially like being able to slide the stings quietly on flats where round-wounds give the "VrrrrrrrP" sound that my sound-guy hates and has to clamp, but clamping, clamps sounds you DO want too... so, these are great. If I were playing a lot of hot pop or 80s rock, I'd run rounds, but Worship music, these fit the bill nicely.. tweak the mid-range/treble and run the bridge-pickup a bit hotter and you're plenty bright.

I needed to switch from Roto round-wounds, which I had used for decades, to flat-wounds to try to get less wear on a natural ebony fretboard. I have a custom, five-string fretless with fantastic electronics that runs through an Ampeg/Hartke rig. I loved the sound of the Rotos, so this was a decision forced upon me. I tried La Bella round-wounds first before moving on to the flat-wound sets. Those La Bellas positively roared. I tried a different set of flat-wounds, but they were so stiff and tense as to be nearly unplayable. I decided to give the La Bella low-tension strings a try. I am now entering on my fourth decade as a bassist, and low-tension flats allow me to pull off those beautiful sixteenth patterns with less wear-and-tear on my aging joints which is a problem that has grown intense in the last ten years. Between these for my fretless and Roto’s FunkMaster set for the fretted, the physical effort is manageable, while the tone through my pro-level gear is as good or better than what I used before changing over. These are a little bit pricey, and I could do with even lighter tension, but these are definitely an upgrade in both tone and playability.
