Work Great
Easy to Use
- Use the pull bar to eliminate gaps on the long side of the planks.
- Insert the tapping block into the tongue of the plank when tapping two planks together.
- Adjust the thickness of the gap using two spacers.
- Make sure to place the spacers on the edges, leaving enough room for expansion if needed.
- Use the mallet to hammer the tapping block to eliminate gaps between planks.

This is a must have for installing laminate floors. The spacers make sure to save room for the laminate floor’s expansion.The hammer is a little be loose, but it can be tightened by twisting.

The tap block worked as good as I could hope for. The shims would quickly turn sideways and be pushed under the gap between the drywall and cement floor though on a wood floor that meets the drywall this may not be an issue. Can’t imagine you would get much more out of a competing shim in that aspect. The hammer is almost worthless for this application so you will need a separate hammer with a little more heft. The bar worked for about 450sq ft then had to use a blow torch and bend the strike plate (where you hit with the hammer) back to a workable state. It then performed for the remaining 400sq ft with tricks such as placing scrap floor under to get the right affective strike angle but much beyond that and I would have had to purchase another bar. If you plan on doing anything beyond this you would be much better off purchasing a solid pull bar. Otherwise you’ll find this to be a good deal for a floor installation kit. What you find here is of the quality you need to get a small job done and that’s it...and that’s all I needed.

Worked great for installing my hardwood laminate flooring. Towards the end the bar bent a little and I just used the hammer to bend it back, no big deal. Ends on the hammer came loose, but they screwed in so inscrewed them back in, no big deal too. I don’t know why people complain for such a deal on this set. I used this and a flooring nailer to do my flooring and it turned out great.

I purchased this kit because I could tell that it was virtually the same as the other kits available on Amazon. I read the reviews and knew what I was getting into. Needing to install ~60 sqft of flooring, I needed something that would last through the job.About halfway through, the mallet came apart. However, I noticed that the ends just needed to be screwed back into the handle. Once that was done, it stayed together with no problem. The ends of the mallet did begin to show wear almost immediately, however, so that was concerning. Unfortunately, the pull bar began to lose shape over time, which is unfortunate because it's the piece I really needed. It will last through the job, but then will be tossed out. I cut a number of the spacers with my utility knife to get them where I needed them. They work fine.Overall, this kit is just right for my bathroom. I might be wary of using this for a larger project.
