Bought 2XL and I have a 44" waist at my most bloated time of month, and these fit nicely without falling down or digging into my spleen. I can pull the waist out at least 6 inches of stretch while I'm wearing them. My hips and butt are 50", still plenty of room. I likely could get an XL to get the close fit I like for a baselayer. Fit was the main factor since I'm on the chunky side. The frequency vibe of merino wool will calm your whole body. Very much recommended this healing textile.Wash was easy in upright washer permanent press cold. Hung to dry in front of a box fan, 1 hour dry. I have the thinner of the thicknesses offered (200).Not see through.Sewing seems very good, no loose threads or pulls. Tags are made to tear out with light tug.Extreme comfort...I will be buying another set, maybe two.Designed in Japan...but still made in China.

I traveled to somewhere very cold. These mid weight ones didn't overheat me on the plane at all but were warm and cozy in cold weather, surprisingly warm. So these are great for moving through different temperatures and staying comfortable. Definitely worth the money. Also, bonus, I accidentally put these in the dryer and they didn't discernibly shrink. True to size, you don't need to size up.

Note - this set does shrink after washing per fabric instructions, I'd recommend buying a size up to compensate...This thermal set is probably my favorite of all the thermals I own. The merino wool is extremely soft, and isn't "itchy" as some wool can be. Warm but not too hot, it breathes as you would expect a natural fiber to behave. And at half-price, it was a terrific buy! I'd gladly buy another set if on sale again.

I took 2 sets of merino wool base layers on our trip to Iceland in November—one lightweight and one heavyweight. Unfortunately, we didn’t luck out with the weather; it was cold and rainy, with strong gusts of wind. I also packed several Omni-Heat thermals, but those made from synthetic materials were useless in Iceland’s wet and cold conditions. The merino sets, however, kept me warm even when I was soaked. I wore both sets every day, and there was no odor. I’m very impressed and will definitely buy more. One note: they seem to run big. I usually wear an XL, but I wish I’d bought a size L, as the bottoms are baggy, just as many reviewers mentioned. To care for them, I wash them on a delicate cycle in cold tap water in a large laundry mesh bag, using wool detergent, and lay them flat to dry. There is no shrinkage whatsoever.

I wore these nearly every day of a 6-day trip with light hiking in 30-50 degree weather (and was still perfectly comfortable going into heated buildings, on car rides and in other temperature-hopping situations!) I get cold easily, and even through we were in and out of heated buildings as we did pre-and post-hike activities, I was neither too warm nor too cold the whole trip. These worked exactly as I hoped, and they were still completely odor-free at the end of the trip. I washed them inside out on cold in a delicates-bag, and put them in the dryer on a no-heat cycle, and they came out perfect and pill-free. These compare favorably to my previous set of MerinoTech. (Which were, according to MerinoTech when I sent pics to their warranty folks, eaten by moth larvae. These must have been very special moth larvae--definitely unique in my experience!--since they left no evidence of pupation, no silk, no nothing... Just wool that crumbled to powder at my touch. But, whatever. These were significantly less expensive, and performed just as well!)

This is a great set of midweight underwear. I would not describe them as thermal because they are a flat, smooth knit. The merino wool is warm but not scratchy. I bought them for walking my dogs outdoors this winter especially in the below freezing temps. I'm 5'5" and weigh 175 and have a slighly pear shape hourglass figure. I have big hips and bust so I ordered the 2X. This is a bit roomy on me, especially around the waist but decided to keep and wear them. However, I just now ordered the XL which should be a better, closer to the body fit for me. They are well made and really do keep me warmer than ANY other base layers I've had. Highly recommend!

The top is simply great and can be worn as a basic long sleeve or layered. Not thin, warm, pleasant to the touch. The leggins are short (I'm 5'9"), cuffed at the bottom, baggy and pull out quickly at the knees. Can only be used as pajamas when noone is around.
