It's a beautifully made box that looks good and serves its purpose. It even smells good! - unfinished wood that can be used for storing all of your items. Amazon were even offering them on a two-for-one deal which made the purchase even more worthwhile.

The wood part of the wooden boxes are wonderful. They need some sanding before finishing them but they were described as unfinished wood so I expected them to be like that. The wood is very pretty and smell of pine. Each box was wrapped in bubble wrap and the smaller one was packed inside the larger one. They were then packed in a cardboard box and Amazon placed that box in another box. I have taken pictures of the boxes once opened. I was delighted! BUT when I opened the latches on the bigger box to get to the smaller one I discovered that the left latch was broken into several pieces but the two larger pieces were carefully pieced together so they looked perfect. But once I opened the latch, the bottom part fell away. The other parts that would be screwed into the box were missing altogether. If they had been included in the package I might have believed the latch had broken in transit but since part of it was missing, it was shipped that way intentionally. Or perhaps the maker, after discovering the break, decided to hide the problem from quality control by hooking it into the upper latch even though it was not attacked to the bottom. Whatever….. The end result is that this box is not worth finishing without a working latch unless I am willing to remove all the other hardware and hope to find some more that will fit into the previously drilled holes. And then if I wanted the boxes to appear to be a set, I would have to do the same thing with the smaller box. To say the least, I am quite disappointed and dissatisfied. The wood boxes themselves are very nice, the smaller box is in good condition, but the other chest is not usable to me. So I am splitting the rating and giving it 3 stars.

Full disclosure - I have some sort of obsession with wooden boxes. These two appealed to me immediately. They are nicely constructed of blemish free wood with nice hardware. They are sturdy and should last a long time.I had planned on writing this review quickly after opening the package. The problem was that they are so nice I decided I would embellish them artistically and include my experience in the review. Well, I haven’t decided exactly what I am going to do yet. I’ve considered some light wood carving, painting, staining and even some laser engraving. At this point I might have to buy more boxes just to be able to try all the ideas I have.These boxes are a good value for the price.

The boxes were the sizes that I needed and what I was looking for to do a project. I was really disappointed because one of the latches on the large box was broken when I received them. I guess I got what I paid for. Very disappointing.

I ordered these boxes to decorate in my craft room with decoupage. I needed somewhere to store some ink pads and find that these two large boxes were very well for that purpose. I think that they would work well for nearly anything you could think of to put them in and, they took paint exceptionally well. I found them a joy to work with, and I prayed to buy others because I think these would be a great memento box for new babies in the family.
