Good piece of kit. The LP claw allows adjustment (its screw adjustable not spring-loaded) for rims of up to around just under 40 mm and down to tension rod diameter. It is very secure and beats any other rim gripping device I am aware of (I am only really aware of the Gibralatar clamp but recall seeing another from someon else). The Z-rod is just a Z-rod. It does stick out a big (in the picture you see it jutting out to the middle of the snare drum which is more or less correct if you angle it perpendicular to the drum circumference. You can of course angle it more acutely so it doesn't stick out as much.I use these for congas, and not just for LP congas, for which, i suspect, they are designed. Some old Natal congas don't have a clear top lip to clip around but, amazingly, the LP claw does this. For extra traction (although it may not need it), it stuck on some slip resistant rubber sheet to the inside. That's about all there is to say.

It holds firm, so I guess that's all you really want from it. Good to have.

This works perfectly for drum set use as long as you actually have somewhere to put it and you aren't expecting it to hold a ride cymbal or something ridiculous like that; 14" or smaller is ideal for it, and 15"-16" is a stretch, but still workable. With bigger or heavier cymbals, the tilters and whatnot sometimes slip, but again, put a 14" or smaller cymbal on and you will have no problems. Also, it works rather well to attach it to the top extension of a straight cymbal stand, to any boom arm, or even underneath your hi-hat. As far as marching percussion goes, the claw doesn't open wide enough to attach to the rims of the Yamaha snares we use; it only opens about 1.25", but it works quite nicely if you put it on one of the posts around the shell. The claw itself is 5/8" deep, 1" wide, and up to 1.25" open. Measuring from the cymbal base, it is 6" to the first bend, 7" from there to the next bend, and another 6" down, giving you a maximum 9"-10" vertical distance between the rim and the edge of the cymbal. the diameter of the arm is 3/8", so it will not hold a regular boom arm. I would recommend putting a metal washer under the wing nut so that it doesn't deform your felts.

A great claw, but doesn't work on snare drums. On other drums, however, it is probably very secure. I hope you like it.

The claw is very useful because it allows to attach it to the battery and harmonizes with the rest of the accessories of the battery.I highly recommend it!

Just what the doctor ordered. The price was the best I found online and I am considering ordering another one for a friend.

For any drummer wanting to get by with a really small footprint set-up, this is the ticket! A snare and a cymbal will add punch to any party as you play along to your dance mixes.
