This tool is great! I have a bunch of edging I want to put around different sections in my yard but all I had was a shovel, which is not the best tool for thin, straight up and down cuts so I was on the lookout for an edger. I came across this one and thought it looked like it would get the job done so I ordered it.Putting it together was fairly straight forward but they do include basic instructions. My only small issue was when you attach the top to the bottom with a clamp in the middle that you tighten by screwing bolts into nuts. I was trying to do this while holding it up at the right height, but it would slip or turn before I could get it tight enough to hold. So, I got it the right height then laid it down and it took 1 min to get it tightened and in the right place. The material is sturdy and I could put my full weight on it without feeling like it was bending or going to break. I haven't used it in hard, compacted dirt yet, but every place in my lawn that I used it the blade cut right through with no issues. It also came with a plastic cover with snaps so you can protect the blade when not in use. I don't know if that was just meant to protect during shipping, but I am going to keep using it anyways. My only small grievance, and it is cosmetic not functional, is that the edger is all black except for the shiny silver bolts and nuts for the middle clamp. Doesn't affect the product's ability to do the job so I didn't deduct any stars, but wanted to mention it in case someone might find that ascetically unpleasing. Overall, it's a great product for a great price ($21.99 at time of review) and I would recommend giving it a try if you need to do any edging!

I have a new lawn that doesn't need edged yet but I had to install two underground downspout drains both about 8 feet long and 10 inches deep. I used this to cut through the sod and down into the dirt. Nice and quick and clean cut. I was able to take the sod in long sections and then finish off the trough for the drain with a hand shovel. Very handy! The sod went right back down perfectly straight and you can't see where I made the cuts unless you get real close. It is also adjustable for shorter or taller people. I'm glad I ordered this. As clean as this cuts I have no doubt that when I will need it for edging, it will work as well as it did for the drains. I highly recommend!

I LOVE this tool so far. I own few yard tools and have a small yard. This edger sure beats me using a hand spade or regular shovel in a sad attempt to clean up the edges. Our local utility company tore up the yard and threw straw down so that’s what you see in the pics but this tool does work! The blade feels sturdy, assembly was simple and using the edger is pretty easy. Now I couldn’t use this for hours at a time but I’m an old broad with health issues. A couple things are less than perfect. My blade arrived with a couple bent teeth. So far that hasn’t affected performance. The handle turned slightly when I was using it but I probably didn’t tighten it quite enough. And the manufacturer could improve this tool by making the bottom of the pole at the blade closed instead of open because dirt keeps getting stuffed up in there. Maybe I can jerryrig a cap for it or something. See pics for teeth and mud and before and after. I feel the price is very fair for this item and I’d purchase it again for myself or someone with a similar yard situation.

I like this edger, and I like the fact that it is sturdy and you can adjust to perfectly match your preferred height to work at. I only have one little issue, which is not a deal breaker for me. The little socket on the tool they provide is not quite deep enough when you're screwing down the center plate. (See attached picture for reference.) The bolt is a bit too long, so it kind of "bottoms out" just as you are getting the last few turns in, and then you start slipping and rounding off the nut. I got mine fastened, but just barely. But while I'm at it, how hard would it be for the assembly instructions to mention the size of the nut, so that those of us who have our own tools would not have to go hunting for the correct size. Once again, not a deal breaker, but how hard would it be to say "Use tool provided or a 3/8 inch socket." However, all that said, the edger still went together okay, but might be a problem if you have to tighten down further after some initial use, and if you don't have your own tools.

When I first decided I needed an edger, I rejected electric edgers and rolling edgers in favor of this manual, crescent-style edger, because I felt it would give me more control to create curved edges without requiring a power source. After using it once, I'm pretty sure I made the right choice! It cut a neat clean line at the edge of my garden, much tidier and faster than anything I've ever been able to achieve with a regular shovel.I would have preferred a tool with a single-piece handle rather than one that comes in multiple parts and has to be assembled, but I guess that is the tradeoff for the convenience and price of ordering online. This edger is selling on Amazon for $21.99, which is quite a bit cheaper than the full-sized edgers I could find on the websites of nearby home improvement stores, and it arrived in 2 days!Being able to adjust the length of the handle is a nice feature, but there are definite drawbacks to having a 3-part handle. This one has two tubes that screw together near the bottom, and if you happen to twist the handle counterclockwise while you're using the tool, it's possible to loosen the two pieces. It happened to me once, but after tightening them and working with a little more care, I didn't have the problem again. The connecting point with the four bolts is also bulky and awkward-looking, although it didn't really cause any functional issues.
