Buffing passes are made with a Tripoli buff (linen wheel), White Diamond buff (linen/flannel wheel), then Carnauba wax (flannel wheel). The final finish is very similar to multiple coats of lacquer but is softer and much deeper. This system includes: A set of three 8-Inch fabric buffing wheels,Tripoli bar, White Diamond bar, a Carnauba Wax bar, and a mandrel which holds the three buffing wheels. The heavy duty 14" polishing mandrel is supported by a live center in the tailstock and driven by a # 2 MT in the headstock spindle. The system requires a lathe with a minimum of 1/2 HP. It is recommended that the final piece be pre-treated with Danish Oil.

The buffing compounds were more/larger than I expected. It is easy to assemble and works as advertised. Makes your wood lathe turning and finishing look very nice.

The product is great and more than happy with it I had a minor issue which was my fault and as a result I received the best level of customer service I have ever received at Amazon highly recommended!

This is my first buffing system. The one page instructions were no help at all. In fact, the instructions are very incomplete and misleading. I had to jump on YouTube to find something on how to put it together. I buffed two things and the end result is what you see in the photos. Very stringy and lost of material strings flying off wheel. The end result of the buffing was just ok. Nothing to write home about.I will continue to buff things and if things get better or worse, I will amend this review. I used the exact method stated in instructions.Danish oil, then the three waxes.

Seems to be a solid buffing system and works well on my lathe. I perhaps should have sacrificed/practiced on some material before I started to buff bowls as the wheels shed an incredible amount of material initially and caught on some end grain at the bottom of the bowl. Had to pick it out manually. Saw a video to solve that issue by running some sandpaper on a board on the wheels to take initial material down. Also very surprised on how little wax needs to be used to get a good shine. Overall very happy with results but may need to get a headstock run buffing pad to finish small bowls and objects. These big wheels are tough to get into small bowl interiors. Have not tried a Beall system but for half the price I think this would be as effective.

I found this really easy to use. It didn't mark the inside of my lathe at all. So maybe some people aren't using it properly. 🤔

As other reviews have noted the morse tapered end is not completly smooth. Basically, a threaded rod has had a morse taper machined on one end leaving rements of a thread. After about 6 months of use and installing / removing the mostly machine end from the headstock on my lathe I see no visable signs of any damage from this tool. Additionally I have learned that softly inserting the taper to the head stock makes removal much easier. The taper is machined very accuratly and centers perfectly without being forceful when inserting.I do recomend this product for those willing to apply common sense when using.

I have mixed feelings about this buffing system. On the one hand it works well to buff a nice finish on my turned pieces. The buffing pads are good quality, as are the buffing compounds. I've also used the Beall system that costs about half again as much, and from my experience the PSI system works just as well. However, I am concerned about the #2 morse taper on the end of the drive shaft that fits into the headstock of your lathe. The taper is cut into the screw threads on the end of the shaft which leaves some ridges on the taper see some of the other comments. I have found at times after using the PSI system that it is hard to remove the drive shaft from the spindle on my lathe's headstock. As I indicated I've also used the Beall system and it similarly has the morse taper cut into the screw threads on the drive shaft, but I haven't experienced the same problem of having the shaft stuck in the morse taper in the lahe spindle. I'm going to try lightly polishing the morse taper on the drive shaft to see if that makes it easier to put the shaft in and out of the spindle, and also cleaning the inside of the taper on the lathe spindle.Overall, a good product.

This product is fantastic for polishing your wood products. You can eliminate 2 of the wheels if desired and only use the waxing wheel especially if your project is a little too large to have the others on the lathe. It is a lot less expensive than the Beall system and performs just as well(I cannot tell the difference). I use the 3rd wheel without wax and buff my travel mugs, bottle stoppers, pens and pizza cutter handles after I have applied the desired number of clear coats. I am going to try the 2nd. wheel(white diamond) after I have applied the finish just to see the effect. Great product!

Wow, nice shine with this three step buffing system. I mounted it on my Rikon Mini Lathe and it works perfectly. Having all three wheels mounted on the4 arbor is great no switching as with a single wheel. Not only has it done wonders for new items but most of my older wooden handled tools now look way spiffier than before, it is amazing what a nice shine will do to the visual appeal of handles.I have been skipping any type of finishes other than after sanding to at least 600 grit I just use the two buffing compound wheels then finishing with the Carnauba wax and these things just look great.I turned a bunch of handles for some old socket type chisels that had been without handles in my Grandfather's tool box so they were about due for an upgrade. I made the handles out of Bacote and shined them up with this buffing system and people actually remark about how cool the tools now look. This item has put a grin on my face, perhaps it would work for you also,I recommend this.
