12 amps for Level 1 is standard, but 40 amps for Level 2 is important to verify that your home electrical system can handle it. You will need a dedicated 240V 50 amp circuit for the 40 amp level 2 charging. Level 1 charging is very slow, suitable mainly for overnight or emergency charging. Level 2 is significantly faster but still depends on your car's charging capabilities. The ability to switch between a standard 120V (NEMA 5-15) plug for Level 1 and a 240V (NEMA 14-50) plug for Level 2 charging is a major plus. This gives you flexibility in different charging situations. The Lectron dual plug charger is a convenient option for EV owners who want the flexibility of both Level 1 and Level 2 charging. If you need a portable charger and your home electrical system is compatible, it's worth looking into. Just be sure to double-check your electrical setup and understand the charging speed differences.

The Lectron Level 1 and Level 2 EV Charger is an excellent charging solution that delivers fast and reliable performance. It is fully compatible with my Tesla, and I was impressed by how quickly it charged my vehicle. Going from empty to full in just a few hours made a noticeable difference compared to other chargers I have used. This charger features dual charging plugs with NEMA 5-15 and 14-50 compatibility, making it versatile and convenient for different charging setups. The build quality is solid, and it performs flawlessly without any issues. At under four hundred dollars, this charger is an incredible value. It could easily sell for twice the price, and I would still be just as satisfied. I highly recommend it to any EV owner looking for a powerful, cost-effective charging solution.

Good quality 40 amp J1772 charging cords are not easy to find - most of the cord sets that come with vehicles or are bought online are only designed for a maximum of 32 amps. With today's larger SUV's and trucks, larger batteries mean charging can take longer than ever. I've used Lectron products on our EV's many times, and this 40A charge cord can charge your EV at 20-30% faster compared to the 30-32A charge set that comes with them. This is a safe, well-engineered cord set that comes in a convenient storage / carrying case. The only major complaint I have is the higher cost of this set compared to others - you can probably find a better value with another brand, if required - but if you want top quality, this might be what you are looking for.

I have a Ford Fusion plug-in that I usually charge at home. I have the original charger set up there and it is nice to be able to leave it there and have set up so that I just need to plug in when I get home and have a full charge when I leave. I am also able to charge at work if I want but it got cumbersome getting to the outlet in the garage to plug in and unplug every time I left for the office (I do not want to use extension cables or power strips since this can lead to overloads). This ends up being ideal for charging when I am out or when I am at work. It came with a zippered case that allows me to keep the trunk organized while carrying the charger, it also has interchangable outlet connectors so that I can charge with a standard 110v outlet (NEMA 5-15) or perform a faster charge with a 220v outlet (NEMA 6-15). The port that plugs into the car fits perfectly as it is a uniform J1772 connector with is nearly universal for EVs (Tesla requires a different connector or adapter). The charge time is about the same as the OEM charger as well. If you need a backup, spare, or travel charger for your car, this will do what you are looking for.

This level 1 / level 2 EV charger is a highly versatile and portable charging solution designed for EV owners who need flexibility across different power sources. With dual charging plugs (NEMA 5-15 & 14-50), it supports both level 1 (12A) and level 2 (40A) charging, making it ideal for home and travel use. A major advantage is its universal J1772 compatibility, allowing it to work with most non-Tesla EVs, though Tesla owners will need an adapter. Additionally, its IP55 weather resistance provides durability for outdoor use, though it's not fully waterproof. However, the lack of smart features like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth means users won’t have access to remote monitoring or scheduling, which can be a drawback compared to higher-end chargers. One of the biggest pros of this charger is its fast-charging capability when using a NEMA 14-50 outlet, delivering up to 40A and significantly reducing charge times to 4-6 hours for most EVs. This makes it a solid alternative to expensive, wall-mounted home chargers. Its lightweight and portable design further enhances its appeal, allowing users to carry it easily for road trips or emergencies. However, when plugged into a standard 120V outlet (NEMA 5-15), it is limited to 12A, resulting in very slow charging speeds; often exceeding 24 hours for a full charge. This limitation makes it less practical for those relying solely on household outlets, and for those who don’t have a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed, setup costs could be a concern. Overall, this level 1 / level 2 EV charger is a reliable, cost-effective, and travel-friendly charging option, particularly for users who already have access to a NEMA 14-50 outlet and don’t require smart features. It is an excellent backup charger for road trips, providing flexibility across different power levels. However, for those seeking faster charging on 120V, smart connectivity, or a fully weatherproof design, other options like the ChargePoint Home Flex or Grizzl-E Smart charger may be worth considering. While it may not be the best permanent home charging solution, it excels in portability, affordability, and ease of use, making it a strong contender for EV owners in need of a versatile and budget-friendly charger.
