Settled on this one after trying few others. More expensive but worth it.

I purchased this charger on Amazon in April of 2023, because of the beautiful changing display screen. If you live in a state like California that offers rebates for home EV charging stations, you'll be rewarded with the full amount of the charger, and even the installation fee. I didn't find out until I applied for the rebates with the AQMD, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, to submit the photo of the NRTL certification of the charger. My charger doesn't have any, only the CCF. Both of my applications were rejected untilI l provide them the information requested. I contacted Lectron by email. It is the only way of communication with the company. John responded back. We went back and forth. The company was doing the bare minimum to help. He finally stated that they have a NRTL on their new chargers. Okay, send me the label, or something. His response was that I had bought an old version charger that was sold by Amazon, and not from Lectron. Therefore, I'm on my own. I responded back that what did that has to do with anything, and how do you put a product on the US market if it hadn't passed the test to receive the NRTL certification. The window of return of this item has ended. Otherwise, I would have returned it back to Amazon for refunds.WARNING: If you're planning on getting rebates from your utility company. This charger will not do. I'm leaving about $2000 on the table. Not a good thing. There are better chargers on the market today that have all the bells and whistles, with WiFi, etc, for less. You will be able to update if necessary. And, they are UL, NRTL certified.LECTRON chargers are not on the approved list of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. It may not be on your utility department list as well.LECTRON HAS A TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE RELATION. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF BACK AND FORTH WITH LECTRON TO GET THE NRTL LABEL, OR, SOMETHING FOR MY CHARGER, FOR MY REBATE APPLICATION TO BE APPROVED. I AM LEFT WITH NOTHING. I STILL HAVE FULL WARRANTY ON THE CHARGER AS OF NOW. THIS IS A MONEY LOSS. NOT HAPPY! ESPECIALLY ON A CLASS B CHARGER. NOT WORTH IT!IN ALL HONESTY, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND THE LECTRON V-BOX 48V CHARGER.UPDATE: Temperature reading on charger is inaccurate. It's always about 20 degrees higher.

I’ve had a Grand Cherokee 4xe for about 2 months now. Initially I used a level 1 (SLOW) charger and it worked okay. But I finally got the 220V service installed in my garage and switched over to this model from Lectron. It blows my mind that how fast it can charge. Quick run to drop off a kid at school, back home to charge. Then a quick run to the office and back home to charge. Grab the kids from school and back home to charge. I haven’t needed to go to the gas station in two weeks because how quickly the vbox charges. I saw a few comments about other chargers over heating (I guess while charging in the sun?) so I’ve tried to charge both in my garage and outside in the driveway in the sun. Don’t matter, not one issue. We’ll see when we get to one of those Michigan winter days and I will update this post in a few months when that happens.

This was an upgrade from a previous level 2 charger I had which seemed to be overheating and stopped charging my 4xe. I purchased this unit because of the higher amp rating even though it was a bit overspec'd for my vehicle in hopes that might solve my problem. The extra thickness of the cable (lower gauge?) was immediately apparent when I unpacked the unit. Build quality on the box / display is solid. The instructions said I had the option to set the output amps to a lower setting than 48A so I changed the tiny dial to 32A per the spec of my 4xe. Wall installation was simple and is secure with the drywall anchors.Fast forward through maybe 3 of the hottest weeks in NJ and I've not once had the charge stop due to overheating with the V-Box and I typically charge 2-3x per day. Will come back in a couple of months to update but so far the product deserves the 5 stars.

We bought this charger to use with our new ID.4 specifically because we wanted a 48-amp capable charger with a NEMA 14-50 plug. It's VERY lightweight, which is great - it probably weights half as much as the older 16A Siemens charger we have for our Volt. Installation is super easy, and it hangs well on drywall. Very nice, easy to read display. The 20 foot cord is great for cars that have the plug in the back. We had it up and running in less than 30m. One quick note - sometimes the plug needs a bit of a push to engage with the car - not sure if that's on the ID.4 side or the charger side, but a little bit of elbow grease is sometimes necessary to push it in and get it to charge at the full 48A.

i purchase this unit for my Tesla Model 3 Long Range, and the install was pretty easy. After my Electrician installed the Nema 14-50R. The menu lights up, tracks and negotiates with the car on the charge rates. And tells you at the end how much whr was given, and length of time.Downside: you must capture the values, as there is no menu. Its not smart and so it will not collect history or store logs. For $499, I'd wish that it was a bit smarter with wireless or bluetooth. But in the vendors defense there is a $600 dollar version with those features. And while I have Telsa, i wanted a universal plug in the event my 3rd EV is something else. Its just a bit of manual data log capturing to see the total cost. And in there the defense the electric company Does not have smart metering either.Update: it's now been 2yrs since I've purchased this unit. And overall it does provide better charging than 20amp wall outlet. My latest concern is the hot temp that the handle and 1ft of the line gets. It's get really hot, that I've lowered the amps from 46, then 42, now 40. I have a standard Tesla model that uses 35amps and the cord is still very hot. My garage is warm in the summer adding more heat, but I'm very worried this unit is not adequate and may start a fire. I'm now searching for a replacement.
