Looks like a few people has not understood after you plug the led light connector into the vehicle harness, you need to tuck the led light wires inside where the circuit board is, then push in and twist to lock the vehicle harness connector the same way it fits into the original light lens, so it keeps out dirt and water... hope this helps.. :)

Bought these for my 2010 f-150 because the light sockets needed replaced and the original licence plate bulb assembly's fell apart and were dirty with moisture plugged these puppies in and the are an exact fit the little red accent lights add style and the LEDs do the job efficiently would buy again

It was very easy to replace the original light, I just had to carefully pry the old light loose from the bumper (with a flat blade screwdriver and a piece of carboard under the screwdriver to prevent scratching the bumper).You just remove the old light bulb, and the new light had leads that plugged straight into the old light bulb socket. I tried it both directions, and it works either way, so you won't have to worry about reverse polarity.The light is bright, and I like the slots which also have red light showing from the rear - it makes it stand out a bit from the original factory license plate light.I did not realize that both of my original license plate light bulbs were burnt out, so I could not do a side by side comparison of brightness, but it definitely seems brighter than the license plate lights on other vehicles.The only negative I found (and I have seen others mention this) is that the way that the pigtail wire on this inserts into the old bulb socket is not weatherproof, and I could see that it would easily get wet and eventually fail if not sealed.I wrapped several rows of electrical tape over the connection, and I feel confident that will prevent any issues. I would recommend that you do the same when installing. I suppose that a good silicone caulk could also work well, but I did not want to try that because it would be more difficult to remove than electrical tape in the future
