Based upon the stated assembled width of 11.6 inches, I bought this to put inside of a letter-size file cabinet drawer sideways, so I could use it for some legal size hanging folders. The listing measurement is inaccurate, so it will not work for this purpose. I am returning it . Also, the rails are very wide. In fact, they are the same width as the slots on the hanger rods for my Smead folders, which means there is zero tolerance for error if the hanging folders are not assembled correctly. In my case, some of the folders were poorly assembled so that the slot was partially covered up. This means they would not sit down on the rail. This was NOT the fault of the folder frame, it was a problem with the actual folders; however if the frame rails were a little thinner, it would not have been a problem. I resolved it by trimming away a little of the hanging folder to fully expose the slot. If that had been the only problem I would’ve kept it.PROS: Easy assembly. Adjustable length. Looks good.CONS: Much wider than stated measurement. 12.4 inches wide assembled, versus stated measurement of 11.6 inches. Hanging rails are very wide.If you want to use it to go inside of a larger drawer, or to sit on top of a desk, it can work. If you want to put it inside, a letter size file cabinet to hang legal folders front to back, it’s too wide..
