Wool
Alpaca Wool
Alpaca wool is one of the finest luxury fibers. Alpacas are shorn once a year, without harm. Due to the soft texture alpaca fleece is often compared to cashmere, it is just as warm as wool, yet lighter. It comes in various natural colors and shades.
The fiber is naturally hypoallergenic as it doesn't contain lanolin. Compared to regular wool the fiber is smooth and avoids itching or skin irritations. Other benefits include water repellency and odor reduction also is washable and has less shrinkage.

Cashmere Wool
Cashmere wool, usually simply known as cashmere, is a fiber obtained from cashmere goats that have been used to make yarn, textiles, and clothing for hundreds of years.

Merino Wool
The Merino is characterized by very fine soft wool. One of the most important properties of merino wool is its strength or durability. Because of its high crimp count, it is also excellent at regulating body temperature, especially when worn against the skin. Moisture is wicked away from the body; the wearer is warm without being too hot. Merino wool has an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio.

Not Who You Expect

Typically good wool blend socks cost about $20 or more each pair so 2 pairs for $26 is a good deal. While I'm not a big fan of the design of these I don't mind it too much either. I wear socks for warmth and comfort and, so far, these provide both. What I don't know yet is how well they will hold up over time but based on the other wool blend socks I have and have now and had over the years they seem like reasonable contenders for a decent life span. If I'm disappointed I'll revisit this review.

These Leo Design wool socks are comfortable and thick. The knit on these is tight and the toe seam lays flat. Because of my calf size they are effectively crew socks. If you have smaller calves they might pull higher. Ordered the 9.5-12 size and they fit perfectly.
