These bulkhead fittings are made threaded internally or smooth for slip fit and glued tubing. The manufacturer is very clear about specifying on their website. The Amazon listings are not clear at all.This one is a thread/slip fitting. There are slip/slip fittings and thread/thread fittings. Each one has a specific manufacturer's stock number. A better description would mean fewer returns.

The bulkhead leaked. I have been reefing for 8 years and have drilled lots of tanks. First ever leaking bulkhead. Installed twice for good measure and ensured gasket, flange and glass were clean and free of debris. Luckily Amazon is allowing a replacement. Will follow up

Price is great but minor imperfection caused a leak. The hard plastic sealing surface for the rubber gasket had a thin line of plastic (looked like a Z) protruding from the surface from manufacturing on both sides (opposite ends) of the diameter of the bulkhead. This tiny, almost imperceptible little ridge of plastic left an impression in the gasket and created a leak path for water. I used a razor blade to remove it and the leak went away. I didn't have anything to measure it but I would guess it was ~.2mm wide, and about ~.2mm tall.
