Enjoy years of recreational basketball fun in your backyard with this Lifetime Pro Court Portable Basketball System (model 1269). It features a Pro Court base--which can be filled with sand or water for weighting--and a 44-inch sturdy acrylic fusion backboard, giving you the confidence to go up strong without fear of breaking it. The backboard also offers screen-printed graphics with UV-protected inks, and fade-resistant color. The classic rim comes with a nylon net. The three-piece, 2.75-inch round telescoping pole joins the solid base and backboard, and it adjusts from 7.5 feet to 10 feet in 6-inch increments.

Lifetime's 1269 Portable Basketball System will adjust from 7.5 to 10 feet tall in six-inch increments. Portable basketball systems depend on a base filled with sand or water for stability. Although it will take up more space than an in-ground system, the portable base rolls on wheels, allowing players to position the basketball system in the desired location (and also allowing storage in a garage). Simply assemble, fill the base, and star shooting some hoops. There is no fussing with concrete.

Key Features:

  • Break-resistant acrylic playing surface
  • High-impact, molded polyethylene frame
  • Fade-resistant graphics
  • Classic rim with welded steel net hooks
  • Nylon net included
  • Telescoping height adjustment allows you to adjust from 7.5 to 10 feet in 6-inch increments
  • No tools required for assembly
  • Powder coated rust-resistant finish
  • 27-gallon portable base
  • Fills with sand or water
  • Rolls to desired location

    Amazon.com Basketball System Buying Guide
With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.

    In-Ground Systems
are permanently cemented into the ground--either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground--and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you'll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease.

Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You'll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.

    Wall-Mount Systems
can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won't take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.

    Portable Systems
require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.

    Backboard Considerations
Regardless of which system you choose, you'll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don't offer the true rebounding action.

The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

We installed this over a year ago and through bad storms and flooding it has remained in place and usable. Great purchase and worth be money!

The instructions are pretty involved and when you get to the end (screwing in the hoop and the backboard, standing it up and filling it with water), you really do need two people but I just took my time and read the directions carefully and it all came together fairly easily. It's sturdy enough and the price is right, I have a functional basketball rim for about $200. If I see any design flaw (and honestly, not sure what else they could do), it's when you pop a 20 footer, nothing but net, the ball drops and often hits the base, shooting off in one direction or another. But not sure there's any other way to design a pole and rim like this.

Easy to put together. Simple instructions. My 10 year old and I put it together in about 1-1/2 hours. Seems pretty sturdy. I used 4 sand bags stacked on top of the base to keep it in place. Easy to adjust the height. Just pop a bolt out (no tools needed to do this) lower or raise the pole to your preferred height, put the bolt back in and tighten the nut. It’s a large plastic Star nut that screws on to the bolt so you can loosen and tighten it by hand. Overall satisfied so far. Will keep you updated!

This basketball hoop is fantastic for the price, it's good and sturdy, very solid, and looks good. The backboard is a great size for the price range again, it's the only part that seems a little flimsy/ cheap, but after testing it out fairly throughly it seems solid. Adjusts from 7 1/2 to 10 ft, it's not particularly easy to adjust it, you really need to be an adult to do it, and a reasonably strong man to do it alone, but two people no problem. Honestly though it's not something that I really adjust very often so it doesn't bother me, especially to get an easy adjusting hoop would cost you an extra 100 bucks more. Got this hoop for $160 in sale, after seeing it I would easily be willing to spend $220 or so on it. Lastly it has kind of confusing directions, but excellent online video directions, just follow along with those.

*The Pitch*: I haven’t had a basketball hoop in front of my house in 20 years. So I didn’t want to spend a lot in case I ended up not using it that much.*The Package*: This is a retail package. It’s a large bound cardboard box with black print.*The Fit*: This is a great starter hoop. At under $150, I’m pretty pleased with this purchase. The entire goal was relatively easy to put together. I did it by myself in about 1.5 hrs. Just be careful with it once it’s fully constructed but before you add water or sand to the base. It is pretty wobbly in this state.I will also add that I chose to fill the base with water and an added BaseGel polymeric stabilizer. It was MUCH easier than adding sand, and due to the way it evenly solidified, I feel like it’s more stable overall. I have no issues with wavering or moving during play. The ball does feel a little less springy when bouncing off the backboard, but that is to be expected with just about any portable hoop. It’s not particularly noticeable, and it doesn’t affect gameplay.*The Good*: Easy to build and relatively inexpensive.*The Bad*: Rebounding balls are a little less springy, but only a little. The backboard is a little small (but every goal in this price range was the same size)*The Bottom Line*: I researched basketball goals for a week before I settled on this one. I was worried about the quality due to the low cost, but it has a very high overall rating for a reason. I don’t think you can buy a better hoop for the money.

Thick tubes and backboard. Goes up to 7 and 10ft. Made in the USA, except for the net. (I read that they are ONLY made in China now). Nothing was missing, all parts indicated were included in the box. Has a nice size base, and we filled it with BaseGel. 1 1/2 hrs to assemble for two people. It does not shake or move when my teen niece practices, and she shoots the square hard. It is sturdy, yet manuerverable enough for her to push back/forth to the driveway. It is powdercoated and has a 5yr warranty. We live in Southern Arizona and the sun beats down, so that was a plus. I got this on sale, and I know i got a great deal. All the hoops have been taken down due to the Rona, and she needed to be able to practice. GREAT BUY!

Straight forward assembly. Filled with sand...no funnel supplied, and one plug for two smallish filler holes. Very stable now, kids enjoying it (ages 10 & 13). Would get an opaque board next time to block the sun in the ol' eyes

This is a very good recreational basketball hoop that is portable. The base is the type that can be filled with water to sturdy the pole, rim, and backboard. I have found that it works very well by placing sandbags on the base. That way you get the weight you need to anchor it and can just take the sand bags off the base and wheel the hoop back into storage when needed. The assembly is very easy and once assembled the height adjustment is smooth and straight forward. The 44" backboard is the perfect size for this kind of hoop. While not regulation, it is much larger than most of this kind and is easy to find a place to store. Also, the backboard is thick clear acrylic which is a nice touch. The rim is fine and provides good feedback from the ball, but just make sure that if you are dunking do not hang on it. It's great for neighborhoods like mine that do not allow basketball hoops to be ground mounted or stay outside for more than a few days at a time. I use it for pick up games with other adults. Also, I let my neighbor's children use it at their desired height. Overall, it has been a great hoop that is nice to play on and has held up very well over the past few years. For the price with shipping from Prime I am very happy. Having a package this large shipped to your front door is a big plus.
