It is creamy yet not sticky and fun to play with.I would not use during hot day because it might just melt in your hand.I am looking forward to make a full peace with this great pastel. For the price you cannot go wrong.

Doux à l’utilisation, se mélange bien. Les pigments ressortent (vibrants), et chaque bâton a son identification Lightfast, allant de une à cinq étoiles. Recommandé.

Lightwish oil pastels are similar to Paul Rubens. They are well-pigmented and easy to blend. However, I found they were limited to minimal layering and smeared easily.I prefer a harder professional oil pastel ( Caran Dáche or Holbein) that can withstand multiple layers and blend well.I will continue using the Lightwish oil pastels as a top layer to showcase highlights and shadows. For beginners, the Lightwish oil pastels are well-pigmented, easy to apply, and great value for the money.

These are a quite varied shades in this set, and these will blend fairly easily. They are soft and lay down very nicely. These are basically oil paints in stick form. Kind of along the same lines as watercolors, but oil paints - tube or cake? This is tube or molded into a stick form. They lay down really nicely and I have used them several times. They do beautifully as far as performance, portability and array of colors

I love these 'LIGHTWISH Professional Oil Pastels, 48 Vibrant Colors'. I tested them by painting a small Christmas tree. There are many shades of green and green/blue making it easy to create interesting depth in the painting. The pastels are quite soft, and lay down on the paper smoothly. They come in a box so tightly packed in their slots that I find them a little difficult to get out without smooshing the stick a little. I have to be very careful. Even the box lid is so tightly machined that it is hard for me to get in off after I put it underneath to use the sticks. The quality of the pastels is excellent, giving me the opportunity to create oil paintings with texture, without the hassle of oil paints.

I LOVE these oil pastels. I started with lower priced ones, then went up in price, and those were very good. But these blew all the rest of the 'extra soft' pastels out of the water. They are SO soft, and so pigmented. They blend beautifully, without having to put down multiple layers first. They are so soft that you may want to use your harder pastels in your first layer, then use these to finish with. But if you have no other pastels, these work perfectly on their own. If you are having trouble layering or blending, maybe it's the paper you're using. So before you give up on these (or any other oil pastels), try different paper. You need a little 'tooth' to the paper to be able to get more layers down. I like to use 140# cold press watercolor paper, but experiment to see what works best for you and the look you want to achieve. I've seen people on YouTube get nice results in coloring books. I know that there are more expensive 'artist quality' pastels, but honestly, I can't see how they could be any better than these. And, there's no need to throw out or ignore your other inferior oil pastels, because they will all blend together nicely and all of the sets I own have their own unique colors. This has a nice mix of colors and are very pigmented. And one other thing that is hard to find is a set that has extra whites, which is the one you will use the most. This set has 5 whites!!This is a good price for these, and I'm very happy with them!

Review of LIGHTWISH Professional Oil Pastels, 48 Vibrant Colors Plus 4 White, Set of 52, Creamy and Pigmented Artist Soft Oil Pastels for Blending, Layering & Shading.I haven’t used oil pastels in 50 years. These are a lot better than the quality of the ones I used back then. Those old ones were like using crayon. These are not like crayon, they are lush. Like pushing oil paint paste around in a form you can draw with. The colors are pretty good with a nice spectrum of tones in each color. My one gripe is I would like there to be a warm dark green like Hooker’s Green, the dark greens in the set tend more towards blue, but I can make it work because there is a wide range of yellows to blend in. They are capable of impasto texture, making it really tough to tell them from oil paint. Very nice to work with. Attached is a detail of a pastel painting I did using these, influenced by a painting by Ralph Albert Blakelock in the 1880’s.

I started working with oil pastels a few years ago now. I have discovered that there are oil pastels, soft oil pastels and REALLY soft oil pastels.HOW THESE COMEThis set of pastels comes in a sturdy box (good for strong and taking with you) which has a plastic molded tray inside for holding the pastels into place. There is a foam piece topping it off and the entire box is shrink wrapped.COLORSThis is a set of very intense and bright colors. There are some earthy tones, but most of the colors are intense and bright. You might have to mix to get the earthy tones. I also love that they include a lot of white. That is a great feature of this set.PIGMENTATIONThe pigmentation in this is very very good. High output, you don't need much to get a good coverage on paper.SOFT?These are definitely soft. At first it was cool, so they seemed harder to spread, but as they warmed up, they are really nice to work with. I enjoy the texture of soft pastels. It is almost like painting with very lightweight clay with the intense colors of oil paints. These are not the softest I have used, but they are definitely on the soft side.PERFORMANCEThese work really well on paper designed for oil pastels especially. In my opinion, it is best to get some of that paper to allow you to use them most efficiently. They blend well, smear and spread well, and they also seem to set up well too.FINISHINGI highly recommend if you plan to use these or any oil pastels that you invest in a can of oil pastel spray. I like Sennelier, but there are other brands you might like better. It is well worth the investment because if you get an oil pastel painting the way you want it, you are going to want to set it so nothing happens to it.LEVELI would say that these are definitely in the artist quality of category vs, school grade or cheapie grade. They work well with other more expensive and less expensive oil pastels when used together in a composition, although these are really nicely pigmented, so I have to be careful where I use them next to what so they work well togethet colorwise.THE BOTTOM LINEThis is a nice set of soft oil pastels. Colors are brilliant, and quality is very good.MY RATINGFIVE STARS. These will work very well with my other oil pastels that I have. I love the intensity of colors and plan to use them to add a pop of colors to my paintings. Mixing them will be a hit and miss proposition, but there is plenty to play with.
