I have a 22-foot Mallard RV with an underslung single axle, it bounces like a basketball going down the road. This shock kit cured that now it rides lot smoother, sometimes it does not feel like you're towing. Should have done this 6 years ago. It was easy to put on, took about 6 hours with basic hand tools. I bolted it right on no problems.

I installed 4 of these on our Shadow Cruiser travel trailer. It’s a major project. The under belly liner and fresh water tank had to be removed. An ear of each upper shock mount had to be removed, holes in the spring hold down plates had to be enlarged and the radius of the U bolts had to be heated to pinch them together somewhat. There are no instructions so you have to figure it out on your own. Took about 4 days. The ride of the trailer is very much improved and with much less chucking. Very much worth the effort!

I always put shocks on my travel trailer, and I have had a few over the years. They help a lot on sway and bounce. They will save the life of all your appliances and increase the life of your springs and tires. Try riding in a car without shocks.

Installed on Coachman Clipper travel trailer. had to do over-under swap on the axel to create clearance for the shocks to be effective. This action lifted the trailer almost 6” which was too high. So I drilled new holes in the leaf spring bracket to lowered the trailer by about 2”. The net lift on the trailer is about 4”. I bought square U bolts (3” x 8” x 9/16”) and axel perches, replacing the round U bolts that came with the kit. I welded the additional pair of axel perches to the bottom of the axle. I used my original leaf spring plate on top of the axel and the new plate on the bottom. I lengthened the holes in the lower plate to allow the new U-bolts to fit. The axel perches prevent you from squeezing the U bolts into the existing holes on the bracket. No lock washers were include. This setup bounces around on the highway presenting risk of those bolts loosening, so it needs lock washers. I also put nylox nuts on the upper mounts—same reason. The I beam on the trailer was too deep for mounting the upper shock bracket. I used several washers in between the bracket and the beam to act as a stand-off. With a couple days work, lots of new parts, and a little ingenuity, I made it all work. This is not a complete kit, as every trailer will have a different setup. I think Lippert should better represent this product offer a couple different versions for different trailers. It would also help to include an instruction sheet with a few photos to illustrate possible configurations. I’m certain Lippert has significant returns from people who can’t figure out how to install this kit on their travel trailer. As it is, I spent another $150 for parts I caution the weekend DIY’er, this is not a project for a novice mechanic.

The box was undamaged , but mounting hardware was missing for one shock.I reached out to Lippert and @ first they said return it to Amazon, impossible to do as it is installed waiting for hardware to mount 2nd one. They relented and are sending the missing stuff slowly, meanwhile it cost $14 to get from 3rd source. For my application I had to use the old U bolts. The actual quality of kit is excellent.

Started with missing parts. Both kits were missing two bolts for attaching brackets to the frame. Three of the four brackets in the two kits required modifications (new holes for the shocks spindles) as the shocks rubbed on the tire side wall when installed in the original holes. The stated required clearance of 2.5” was not enough. Also recommend using thread locker on the self tapping bolts that secure the brackets to the frame. There is no torque specified and the frame steel isn’t hardened so relying on friction alone for these fasteners is questionable.

The upper shock mounts were totally different . One was spaced out two inches from the frame, the other was three inches. Three inches put the shock at a weird angle vertically. I threw them in the scrap bin and made my own. The shocks themselves are weak, easily compressed with little effort. If there quality is like the mounts I will be replacing them soon.

Work great. Professional installation recommended. The instructions are not included. Instructions online may need to be modified for your vehicle or RV as in my case I had to flip the upper shock mounts. They short you 4 bolts-a set of ten available from Amazon to replace missing bolts. Wheel spacers may be required if placed outside frame.

Components are good quality and results are worth the effort. Be prepared for potential customization, modifications, cutting, removing underbelly, etc... the hardware and motors for the slides on my camper required one side to be mounted inside the frame and the LP line on the other side required the shocks be mounted outside the frame. It took 12 hours to mount 2 shocks inside the frame (removed underbelly and resealed) and 2 hours to mount two shocks outside the frame. I had to cut one bracket to clear a crossmember... etc.The instructions are incomplete, literally. Talked to customer service at Lippert and they are helpful. YouTube video made by mfg is somewhat helpful too.
