One of several automotive stethoscopes I own. It's nice to have this one with the rubber funnel end. The metal tube doesn't like to be bent; I may replace it with a 1/4" OD tube that bends easy.

We used this to locate a troublesome noise that only happened on engine shutdown. Turned out to be a loose PCV valve grommet that we couldn't isolate from all the other components. A couple of seconds with this audio stethoscope and the source of the sound was located and remedied. We also have an inductive type mechanic's stethoscope but that's better for physical knocking and not hissing. It pays to have both on hand if you plan to locate the source of trouble.
