About Littleton Coin Company
In 1945, Maynard Sundman founded the Littleton Coin Company on the time-honored values of courtesy, trust and quality collectibles. Today, Littleton Coin is an employee-owned business – built by collectors, for collectors. Our strict standards ensure that when you get a coin or bank note from us, it meets the grade or exceeds it. Our dedicated staff is committed to bringing you the excitement of this fascinating pastime, while making the pursuit fun and easy.

-
Why do my Uncirculated coins have scratches on them?
Coins graded MS-60 and better will have contact or "bag" marks, which are minor abrasions from contact with other coins during the minting process and during handling and storage in U.S. Mint sealed bags.
-
What should I use to clean my coins? Do you recommend cleaning them?
Cleaning is not recommended. Cleaning can permanently damage a coin's surface, thereby reducing and possibly totally destroying its numismatic value. An expert can easily spot a cleaned coin, and will usually stay clear of it.
-
What is the proper way to handle a coin while examining it?
Collectible coins should always be held by their edges between thumb and forefinger. This will protect the surfaces and design elements of the coins from the natural salts, acids and oils in fingers or palms which can be corrosive to coins over time.
