I was disappointed with this medallion (considering how pricey it is). Not because of the look. The finish has absolutely no clear coat which I found to be rather absurd. Realize the paint is simply on foam so it's not adhering very well to begin with. I don't even know if they used a primer. Without a protective clear coat, the slightest ding is going to flake off the paint.I used this medallion to highlight a rather ornate and luxurious chandelier. It took quite a bit of doing to say the least. Just maneuvering the chandelier wires, chain, and various parts into place would come into contact with the medallion and almost every time a chunk of paint would flake off. Thank goodness I had a very close match of brown and gold paint to touch up the medallion.For the price (almost 200 bucks with tax) I find it cheap that a protective clear coat wasn't applied over the paint. If you got a simple fixture you may not experience the problem I had. But if you got a larger more challenging fixture, you may end up rather frustrated like I was.However it does indeed look impressive, without a doubt.
